If your wondering about the Victory Points I've actually gotten one point for the support I'm getting from Europe. I didn't know you got victory points for that.

Anywho not the most eventful turn. Sibley was promoted to four stars, the governor is happy. I'm really quite surprised Disease hasn't hit me yet!

I hit that small force at the river hard and depleted about 45 supplies. It didn't do anything to the numbers but I think I'll keep pounding them to waste the enemies supplies and maybe do some attrition damage soon.

Other Europeans just sent me 5 iron. England support +1 USA. Not the most important issues.

I lost East Ohio River which is understandable. I actually didn't know it would count as a city of mine (Starting empty behind enemy lines at the beginning of the game.. heh) so that's an owie to the VP.

For the runners there's only one thing for grabs, just one chance at 60 iron which is relatively safe so I'll take it.

THIS is what really concerns me. Approx 26,000 Union Troops just made it to the border of Arkansas. Is he actually planning to attack me in the winter? If that's the case then bring it on.

The weather is starting out really bad, every movement across the map is in the black so moving is extremely difficult. I've got about 22,000 men in Arkansas, but I don't expect his army to make it through this weather so I'm going to sit tight in Memphis.

On the side I think I'm going to send the newly arrived General Branch to the Army of Tennessee to help command. By the way, the Army of Tennessee is slowly growing and has made it to 32,000 men.

In the east I was a bit late in moving Lee. He failed in his movement so now he's stuck in the nasty weather at Fredericksburg. I'm going to try and keep getting him to Petersburg, though.

One interesting thing to notice is there is still no commander for the AOP and quite a few of the other Union armies. This gives me a slight advantage because with my Generals' I'm training my units and improving their attributes. Check the Events and you will see.

I'm also going to switch one of my mediocre general's out of the ANV with General Hill.

Otherwise that's about it in Army movement, the navy is still on it's way to New Orleans.

For building I'm beginning construction of a Hospital in Petersburg. There's not enough labor for a second one in Richmond so I'll take the opportunity to build a camp here, to increase reinforcements each turn.

I haven't quite got the income for a navy yet so I'm going to invest in a Naval College in New Orleans. This will help in further research to give me an edge over the Union, hopefully.

I'm building a Mint in Wilmington to increase my money income.

That's all I can afford for buildings this turn. I have a feeling I'm making bad choices in what I buy, but oh well.

I just noticed my labor income is really slow all of a sudden so I think I'll switch over some of the money to labor. I really need labor to build more, I'm surprised it was as low as 55.

Speaking of economics and supplies I'm going to try the strategy of putting my units in the east to No Supply to increase my money income and reinforcements going to Western units. There's a very small chance combat will occur in the east, and even smaller that it will be against one of my main army units, so I'm going to go ahead and do it for 2-3 turns.

This will really help out my defense in the West aswell because I have only approx 75,000 units stations there (not including garrisons) which is hardly enough to hold back the Union forces. The Union general also seems to be more aggressive in the west so focusing all reinforcements to the west should be a good choice.

I now have a HUGE boost of 122 gold per turn. I'm going to go ahead and use this opportunity to dramatically increase my foreign spendings.

Here's an overview of the map.

Finally for this turn I've upgraded the rest of my units in the "Army Of Arkansas" (I'll now call it) with guns that are at least decent. All of them either have Minie Guns or something better.

For promotion I've chosen Ewell to become a Corps commander. He commands a division in Franklin but I think I'll combine his Division with (Previously Hill's) Division in Kenawha to form a Corps sometime soon..

Once again I used destroy supplies with both raiders on that Union unit. Let's see what happens. Next turn I really want to start building up my navy, I shouldn't put it off. 2-3 Ironclad should do the trick, along with the support of those gunboats from Savannah.

Just curious why you didn't promote one of the Johnstons... Their ratings seem better?

This isn't good. The Union fleet managed to totally destroy one of my fleets, so the other one is stranded where it is. I'm going to leave it at Savannah for the time being, I really don't want to lose more. I'll start building up some 1-2 Ironclads and some ships in New Orleans but this will require a lot of resources.

Once again I successfully destroyed quite a lot of supplies, got some more generals, and finished my Hospital in Lynchburg. My diplomacy is now thriving while the USA seems to be having trouble. Other Europeans sent a hefty 16 Engineering Technology points, woo! My Runners also have some good Iron chances which I will be needing for my Ironclad ships so that will be a must-get.

Now onto some more urgent issues: USA has gained control of Kentucky. Now the USA has gained a substantial boost in horses, economy and territory to occupy.

However what is even more urgent is the amount of Union troops to be found in the western theatre. It's becoming bad, he has about 3 armies with a large concentration of troops all along the borders (except Kentucky, so far).

I really want to get some more reliable numbers, that army in Missouri estimated from 26,000 men jumped up to 189,000 men? That can't be right. Therefore I am splitting up my raiders to disrupt these armies and scout out their numbers. Another good reason to split up my raiders is because they have been in the same province for about 3 turns now, without doubt the Union has noticed the huge disruption of supplies they have caused and will try to counter it. If they are split up and moving it will be more difficult to kill them. I'm also sending a lone brigade from the Army of Tennessee to scout out Kentucky for any incoming armies.

Regardless of the exact number count this is a big issue, my forces in the west simply don't match up and it's almost certain the Union will go aggressive in the west sometime soon.

To help solve this problem I'm going to link up Ewell with Van Dorn's division and send them west. This will add up to about 25,000 reinforcements which should be a start. I'll send Jackson's Corps to watch West Virginia in their place. Ohio also looks quite vulnerable with all the forces the Union is sending west. Maybe I can take on Newton and take back the East Ohio River and cause some damage and unrest in Ohio?

As for the east it seems safe. With all the union units heading west I doubt he will mount an attack here anytime soon. Who knows, maybe I can mount an attack of my own?

I've sent those two new generals to take up positions in the ANV. Here's a roster of the ANV. I've transfered the Johnstons' to Jackson's Corps.

Last thing in movements is to move up some excess garrisons from the south in Louisiana and such to help reinforce the forts at Mephis. That small force still sitting in Central Miss is tempting to go over and take out but I don't want to risk anything, there's a significant amount of forces nearby.

I'm going to move onto my economy now. I'm going to lower the diplomacy spending a little so I can start building some ironclads soon and other important things.

My stockpile production is fine as it is so I'm not making any changes.

I'm not going to build much this turn because I need to save up my iron and other resources. I've started construction on a new factory and that's about it. I was thinking of building a new RR station so I can move my troops around more effectively but that costs too much iron.

I just found out about mustering and impressing cities for units, resources, etc, so I'm going to start doing that. Should prove extremely useful.

I've started mustering two units from Jackson and Shreveport so these reinforcements should prove useful. I won't do this too much since it has a toll on production. I'm also going to try and impress some money from Jackson, some Iron from Little Rock and finally some Iron from Wilmington.

Georgia and Florida are requesting some barracks. Sorry, it's going to have to wait.

I'm building a new raider unit in Lynchburg so I can scout out Washington, reports of 600,000 Union troops is just absurd. I can possibly cause some damage, as well. If you look to the left my research is making steady progress.

Soon my Barracks in Richmond should be done so I can start producing Corps and Army Containers.

I'm going to spend my guns and some money on some better weapons for units in the west, that's pretty much all I can do this turn. My Army of the Tennessee is quite well equipped with Minie Guns, Enfields, and Lorenz. This should be good enough, just a few more units stuck with mediocre weapons.

I should probably upgrade my forts in Morphis sometime soon, but I really need the resources for some new ships.

That's all I can do for this turn.

I go ahead and promote one of the Johnston's. He's one of the high-quality corps commanders under my command.

Once again I go with Raid Supplies for the raiders. This is really the only good choice at the moment which doesn't have a higher danger level.

Events 2/2

One of my Musters was successful and I gained a full brigade of nearly 3,000 men. I'm going to go ahead and send them to join the Army of Arkansas. My other muster failed because I made the mistake of trying to muster a city with only 1 population.
It is really quite AMAZING none of my units have been hit from disease at all so far. Hopefully my luck keeps up.

It looks like my impressments were successful as well. However all of these musters and such have quite a toll on the governors' so I'll be a bit more careful.

Supplies raided, hospital and camp finished, and 2500 more reinforcements for the west.

My diplomacy went down. It's not too bad, I don't think I'll invest anymore into diplomacy quite yet though.

One of my blockade runners also successfully got some Iron, so this is great news.

Not the most eventful of turns, but I got a few reliable reports of enemy strength:

Missouri only has about 18,000 men! These are reliable reports from the raiders so I'll take their word on it.

Illinois has a more hefty disposition of about 30,000 men. There's another division further north so it could be higher.

Finally McClellan is moving a force of about 35,000 men to Kentucky(I'm assuming). This is still not the most reliable report so I won't count on it. My scout brigade still hasn't made progress.

If any of these units attacked alone I would be able to handle it. If Missouri and Illinois attacked together I would be able to handle it. However if that army in Kentucky joined the fight it might get tough.

I currently have 84,000 men in the West (Including the Ewell who is still on the way). It isn't enough.

It's still quiet on the eastern front. Newton is still at the East Ohio River with Approx 16,000 men. However it's possible these numbers are wrong so I won't count on it.

Note Jackson hasn't made it to Grafton yet. He has only made it Abingdon so hopefully he'll make it there in 1-2 turns. This is still unlikely because of the weather. What I'm trying to do with Jackson is make an attempt to "raid" Ohio or any other nearby state if the opportunity presents itself. Another reason is to put pressure on the east for the chance the Union might send some units from the west back to the east to reinforce.

My raider will be ready next turn so hopefully I can get some more reliable strength reports next turn. The army in Washington still says 600,000 men.

I'm going to go straight to my Navy. The fleet in Savannah is still there and waiting. I've sent my runners off to try and grab 75 weapons and 40 iron which will be extremely useful.

As for the Ironclad production, I'm 20 iron off from getting one so it will have to be next turn. These things take a LONG time to build (8 turns) so I'm going to try to build the second one in Nashville so there won't be any production time penalties. This is a little risky but when I get the chance and the second Ironclad in Nashville is built I'll try to join it up with the Ironclad in Richmond. After that and presumably after upgrading my first Ironclad in New Orleans I can bring the fight to the enemy at sea. Of course this is all far in the future, it will take 8 turns to produce just one of these suckers.

After I begin production of the second Ironclad (whenever that will happen) I'll re-focus my resources back to the land.

For my economy I'm going to leave it as it is. The income is as good as it gets for now and I don't need to use up money on diplomacy quite yet.

Instead I'm going to start building some much needed buildings and upgrades.

I've started three RR stations in Chattanooga, Charleston and Savannah so I can move my troops around more efficiently.

In Wilmington I've started construction of an Academy which will be needed to get more high-ranking promotions.

Finally in Augusta I'm going to start building another Mine.

For the last of the stockpile I'm going to get the rest of the Army Of Tennessee's weapons past the improvised weapons. Now all of my units in the current Army of Tennessee have either Minie Rifles, or something better. Quite a lot of my higher quality units have Richmonds, Lorenz, or Enfields, which is very good.

That's it for this turn. For the 2 star general promotion I'm going with Hardee. He's one of my division commanders in the ANV and looks very promising.

Once again I go with destroy supplies for my raiders. Sending off the save.
