Tsk tsk tsk... Don't you know what causes that yet?

Remember, hangovers are caused by decreasing alcohol levels so it is imperative to keep the alcohol at a sufficient level to avoid hangovers. It's just that simple!

The Malaya gambit has proven expensive in terms of ships and men but I think it is worth it I am concentrating a strong force in Malayan waters to try and convince PZB that this is the main strike.

I can only operate B29's for about another 4 days then I will have to witrhdraw them to avoid depleting my supplies further.

I will try India after I finish off Malaya in the meantime its time to take Singapore !!!!

13 days until the ships stat to load for war plan YELLOW

Andy,
Can you list what LCU and LBA you have in Malaya currently??

Hopefully, you will take Singapore soon and can start to bombing Palemberg to rubble.
Any plans to continue to conquest of Borneo?? It would seem you need to get a few more bases in the NW corner in order to have LRCAP for your resupply TF to Malaya.

OK commentary on the above turns

My men are ashore on the island and well set.

The 1st attack supported by max effort strikes reduced the forts and achieved 1:1.

PZB is using air tran to ship in more troops so I need to act quickly accoringly after 1 days rest my troops are attacking again if I can secure Singapore and demonstrate towards Borneo PZB MUST honour the threat and act like this is my main thrust.

I would even consider launching heavy B29 raids on Formosa to try and convince him of this once I have Singapore.

I have 3 days of B29 Support left until the next supply convoy arrives with more bullets and beans so I need to maximise the fort reduction before I remove the big hammer.

A convoy covered by a fleet carrier is just now passing Timor and will be met by 2 more Fleet Carriers to allow passage off of Java and Sumatra.

I 'may' consider taking Palembang after I take Singapore as it would provide a oil for Singapores industry and a local fuel source easing my logistics.

I alos may consider a land campaign against Bangkok if for no other reason than to suck PZB out of position

I want him to focus on my left while it masks the true offensive on my right !!!!

12 days until Op Plan Yellow begins to saddle up I will provide a complete force rundown once I begin loading the troops.

This is going to be a long war !!!

Can't you close the airfield on Singapore? Or is clolsing it only applicable to offensive missions from Singapore rather than flying troops in?

I have closed it but his flying boat transports ignore the AF so its costing him with my LRCAP but some will always get through.

But thats ok I will take the base soon

I would like to get forts down to 4 or 5 before I withdraw my B29's

In case anyone is in any doubt I fully expect this war to go to 46 !!!

I don't see any way for me to get 2:1 in points by 8/45 even with the Stalin jumping in - Although I wonder if the Soviets could get tpo Hong Kong !!!!.

In order to score a Draw I need to have 1.75+ more points and not have used more than 2 Nukes by March 46.

So it will be a race for points in early 46 - of course winning losing or drawing is not the point in playing the game - but I don't like losing !!!!

Are you sure PzB is flying personal in? Wouldn´t it be more logical to fly them out?
Wouldn´t bombing the supplies (eg strategic city attack and port/airfield attacks) help more than reducing his forces?

Just some questiones.

I am doing a little bit of both

I used the B29's on tactical for only 2 Days to help crossing the straits apart from that they are 100% on supply interdiction and destuction.

Singapore WILL fall and then it will be time for other plans

If he's flying them out then all the more reason to LRCAP--wouldn't fo to have lots of fragments respawning later when you can kill them off as they're evac-ed. Or kill off his troops as they are transported int (beats fighitng them with land units).

Yes, you are right, but

if he flies them in, it helps Andy, because he can kill those troops more or less easily, so destroying transport planes is somehow counterproductive (as long as troops are brought in, supplies are different matter)

if he flies them out it would make sense to bombard the bases those planes come from to reduce PzBs ability to save his troops.

Is it possible to differ between both missions looking at the report? Will only incoming planes be shot down? Does someone know?

No I cannot know but my strategy will be changed depending on the result of todays attack - assuming another 1:1 I will keep going if I only get a 0:1 I will need to rethink.

How many troops might he be able to fly in with his flyboats? Shouldn´t be too many, so achieving the same losses in an attack against 9 forts was a stunning success!

Could you bombard Singers by BBs? this would have an enormous effect on PzBs support troops, or are all BBs needed in plan yellow? What about mines there? Have you tried to clear them?

What about your 2 engine bombers?
Can you use them more on Singers? Those B29 are expensive, you say, but smaller bombers might work, too.
You might want to do some more recon on Singers to get a maximum effect of your bombardments.

After reading some of the AARs, I estimate planes are shot down only while going in, so PzB does bring in fresh troops. This is good news because it means
a) your plan works, PzB thinks Singers is your main thrust
b) you can kill those nasty troops in one swap and needn´t go after them in other bases.

I checked the data base (you are playing stoch scenario?) and found PzB will get lots of troops in the next time. I am not so sure the Soviets will help too much if they crush into 30+ divisions behind level 9 forts. On the other hand you can use SU airfields to level Japan´s industry.

Those bombers which sank your CVEs, where did they come from? Java? Timor? Phillippines? Would a raid of your B29 with lots of escorts reduce the threat? It would for sure make PzB think you are serious about Malaya, because you are securing your flanks.
You should have lots of medium bombers, which might reach those bases, too. Make him fight and loose supply/fuel/troops with your strongest weapon, your LBA. You should have lots of them as you told so. Not klilling his planes allows him to build reserve planes and enignes and whatever. YOu are going to fight a war on his industry, so take away all ressources you can lay your bombs on now. Destroying 200 planes on Java means 200 less engines or 200 less planes in the pool. Fight your war of attrition in Java/Malaya/Burma, because you can so easily use your LBA. You don´t need it for anything else in the moment.
Isn´t it possible to make raids against eg Soerbaya from Australia?

In China it would possibly be usefull to attack the bases with night raids. You might not be too successfull, but Japanese planes would be landed and the Cap would be much less dangerous. Maybe more smaller raids will do better because PzB would have to spread his supplies and forces a bit more.
Can your B29 mine enemy ports? This would be a good thing to do , to make him burn fuel using his MSWs and damage his ships.
Do you know where his fleet is? Search his ports, maybe you´ll find those surviving CVs and his BBs. A deep nightraid on one of his main ports (attack the naval repair) could reduce PzBs ability to repair his damaged ships (there should be a lot of them now).
Do you transport oil and resources to Australia? I once read that doing so would be more economical because one oil produces one supply plus one fuel, but I might be wrong. YOu should have large amounts of oil on the US Westcoast.

So to make a short conclusion:
a)You are doing fine at Singers.
b) Use your LBA medium bombers. you have them, use them. B29 are too expensive for the job!
c) Use your B29 to attack DEA from Australia, this should spare you a lot of supplies!
d) Rationalize your supply system. You might have more transport capacity free afterwards.

Thanks for reading my stuff,Andy, I hope it gives some ne thoughts to you.

The gameplay for air supply is somewhat wonky when it comes to bases/hexes under seige. Some players report (and i have experienced) that hexes that have enemy units in them can not be supplied by air. Not sure if this is ALWAYS true, but it is SOMETIMES true.

Also, if you wreck an airfield at a base, flying boats won't fly in anymore (i.e., to pick up troops) despite the fact they don't USE airfields. At this was least true in earlier versions of game (haven't had to try it from 1.80+).

Aye well we we shall see all will be decided by how well my attack goes

I have over 300 2E bombers in Malaya at present they will remain when the B29's withdraw

Actually flying boats (patrol planes) do, but the mavis transport planes that should be able to do it don't as they are classed as transports.

IIRC patrol planes can even fly to river hexes (possibly only with a base). Someone discovered it a while ago.

This must be something from a recent patch... i tried supplying and/or moving troops to Ports Moresby lots of times with seaplanes from Oz when the airbase was wrecked, and nothing would ever move.

Hey, you should have 1000s there. You have them, why do you not use them?
What jobs do your 2e-bombers do in the moment? Go after each and every base/dot which looks somehow suspicious. Bomb Truk, the outscirts of the Phillippines, whatever.
For plan yellow you only use carrier aircraft and strategic bombers (plus say 5 2e groups)you should have about a hundred of them!
Now please, would you be so kind as to destroy the Japanese airforce in the DEA for us? This would be very kind of you.

Supplies, Aviation Support and available AF's are all limiting factors.

For a one off raid or naval attack packing 100x works well for continuous bombing campaigns where the enemy may LRCAP or clouds may shut down specific AF's its less so.

I am withdrawing my B29's after an attack I am launching tomorrow - MY shock attack took the forts down to lvl 5 and achieved 3:1 odds !!!!!

I will try to bounce him out tomorrow but then the B29's must withdraw.
