I appreciate the comparison between UV and WitP...I understand that WitP provides more detail, production, etc., but my question is, to just simulate the Guadalcanal campaign, is there a significant difference between the two. Will that assessment change when they release the UV version with the Carrier Strike add on?

Personally, I prefer the scale etc. of UV over WitP. Worts and all I just simply enjoy UV much more than I do WitP.

The basic thing here is UV is a much more playable and faster game than WITP.  If you want focus on the South Pacific during WWII this is it.  If you want more control and scope WITP is the way to go.

I just bought UV and installed it last night. I already have WitP but it was a bit daunting due to the immense scope. I was hoping UV would be a nice yet challenging way to "break into" the game system so that once I was comfortable with UV, WitP might be easier to start again.


I have the tutorial piece printed out and will be heading through that this evening. What might be a good starting scenario for a first go after the tutorial?

Go for a short scenario to become used to the system and then go bigger.  Once you get bored with the AI it's time to get into PBEM games.  I played UV for years vs the AI and recently got into PBEM and have no interest in playing the computer anymore, it's a whole different game.  Enjoy!
