This mod replaces the advisor graphics with photos of the respective secretaries of war - James Seddon and Edwin Stanton.

link: FoF_Advisors.zip

to use:
Download the file linked above and copy the two pcx files to your Forge of Freedom\Gfx\Advisor directory. Back up the existing files first.

They replace the cartoon guys (bleh!) that pop up at the end of the turn summarizing the production info, etc.  You also see them when you try to examine enemy units while fog of war is selected.

Wow, great! And it works? Did you try it? I have problems with the game as I have a 512MB comp so I wouldn't want to add more of them
If you confirm, I'll download it this second

This just replaces some art that is already in the game. It does not ad anything more

I've been using it since the game came out.  I had to get rid of those cartoon guys within an hour of playing the game.

It has no effect on performance either way, just replaces one picture with another.

If you don't like it, simply copy the originals back.

I like it a lot . Do you have anything else in plans?

Definitely - we need to get a better support and participation for replacement and modded graphics.  Those CAD characters are obscene.

SittingDuck and Olprofessor:
I too have done advisor pics of Seedon/Stanton.
But I see .pcx files are not supported for uploads.
This, to me, looks like it would cause problems with users with limited graphic-modding
experience being able to change jpg/bmp files to pcx.
No wonder the modding area here is relatively empty.
This should be changed

I think  alot of people would like that idea. However, I think it's a hard sell. I think the only way you'll get t posted is to get Eric or someone else up there to ok it.

cesteman,
the simple problem with the graphics area of this modding sub-forum is that the game uses .pcx for graphic representation, and the forum only allows uploading jpg or bmp graphic files. Now whats that about.
If possible, it would only require the addition of .pcx files to the upload file list.
If I could, I would also add .zip files. But one step at a time.

I've been puter gaming for a long time, and hanging in forums for some time as well.
And I've noticed that the games that usually survive and thrive, along with being a good game, are the ones most supported in forums by the staff and users.
My 2 cents anyway.

I'm not sure if Erik Rutins checks this modding sub-forum, so you might want to message him directly about this issue of not being able to post .pcx. Zip files, however, can easily be uploaded -- I've done it many times. Perhaps there's a size limit for zip files, though.

In terms of support for modding, Eric, Pixelpusher and I will be happy to answer any questions thrown at us. We don't check this part of the FOF forum as often as the others, so if ever you post a question and don't get a response after a few days just send a p.m. my way.

Gil,
Perhaps I'm doing something wrong, but when I try to upload a .zip file using the "click here to upload!" across from the File portion of the Reply to Message form, I am informed that .zip files are not supported.
I notice those attached .zip files above were part of a link, not uploaded.
But I will take your advice about messaging Erik.
Please let me know here if I'm doing something wrong in the upload procedure.

thanks

How's about we convert to JPG with Irfanview.exe, then reconvert to PCX?

Duck,
Yes that would work for those who have Infraview...and know how to use it.
I PM'ed Erik to ask about adding pcx and zip to the upload list. I'll let you know here when I get a reply.

I use Infraview and it's free!! That's the best part. It's not that hard to use. First off, I think a Erik needs to give his nod or at least agree to check here and give his input. Fron there maybe a poll on what mods people would like to see. Say a Labor, or Money mod just to give you an idea. I can think of a few. Just food for thought. Cheers!
