Trying to update Pacific Fighters with all of the patches that I just discovered. Alternatively, I'm still working through an HPS Campaign Gettysburg that I've been playing with myself for nearly a year now (it's turned kinda bizarre with the Union I, XI, and III corps nearly surrounded south of Gettysburg with elements of the Artillery Reserve and Provost Guard fighting to keep Emmitsburg road open against heavy pressure by Longstreet's I corps. Hancock is just coming into position for a relief thrust and Sykes V corps is coming in from the East to rescue a devastated XII corps retreating south east of Culps Hill under pressure from Johnson's Division. Stuart and Pleasanton's Cavalry have just made their entry onto the map and are rushing to engage. The only positive for the Union is that the Confederate supplies have been nearly exhausted and units are running out of ammunition. An effort is being made to capture Union supply trains via the attacks against Emmitsburg Road as I desperately try to extract my troops from the pocket. I was trying to play historically, but this played out more like a Panzer battle on the Eastern Front! I should just quit at this point as the Confederate side has the overwhelming victory, but like Grant, I'm wondering if the game can still be salvaged by the Union if II corps, V corps, and VI corps make a strong counterattack with fresh troops. I've been resting most of the Confederate III Corps divisions so their fatigue is mostly recovered. God, I love these wild and wooly HPS campaign games with the huge maps and variable campaign options! I'm going to hold off on Forge of Freedom until Christmas break as I'm really too busy right now to get into a new and complicated game.
