All the gunboats I produce are named "1st Gunboat", is this intentional? Couldn't there be a file that has the historical names of the navy ships and gunboats, so we could get some variety? Or at least couldn't the numbering system be incremented so that they all don't have the identical name?

I've notified Eric about the problem with the boats not being numbered sequentially (something that should be reported in the Support sub-forum). As for naming the gunboats, one can rename any military unit by clicking on it, but a file with historical names seems to be a good idea. Please add it to the "Wish List" thread.

(Here's my periodic explanation of why I tell people to put requests in the Wish List thread: 1) it keeps all ideas in a single place so that they can easily be evaluated every time we're planning a new features patch, whether it's next week, next month or next year (well, I guess next month = next year, but you get the point); 2) requests carry more weight when made by paying customers than if I e-mail my colleagues and say "Hey, we really should add such-and-such to an upcoming patch.")
