good job indeed!

But there is a few transports and MSWs in the port. Do not know a much about Tabpub playing style but i would be worried about absence of mentioned types of ships.

Could it be just a bait? Anyway, BANZAI!

%^%$#@!#%%^^^^ game mechanics -

And where did the battle fleet go -I find it after the turn half way to kendari -how the truk did that happen!

very depressed
Im flying out what I can from the carriers, no attack planes left really, and restocking a bit -perversly Im going to try again

585 a/c lost to 90 today -and note the escorted strike got through -if the 1st one had been escorted things would be very, very different

No real comments from Tabpub
I attack again!
1cl and 5 DD sweep into darwin -only to meet again the wave after wave of 4 boat pt squadrons -this is so gamey -knowing that each little 4 boat squadron chews up ammo, ops points and time -this time 3 more 4 boat squadrons -they prevent the Cl attacking anything
BB mutsu stayed in the harbour -her bombardment did little, then she and a single DD fought of the Pts -the DD being sunk

Ive had it with this gamey 4 boat sq, 4 boat sq 4 boat sq ****.
Told tabpub that if tomorrow the entire battle fleet is turned away by PTs -I will consider abandoning this game
I have scored a major tactical surprise -its not me that packed darwin hbr with over 100 ships -with NO FLEET TO PROTECT IT - and then he gets away with it with just PT boatsas his defence.

Losing all those planes I can handle, if the fleet gets stopped .

I have even told him that tomorrow I will be attacking with the entire battle line- do not care if he stuffs it full of planes.
If he spawns more PTs then obviously winning is more important than playing.

THIS TIME a massive co ordinated strike did go!
All the CVs restocked from kendari, attacked -310 zeke -67 zero, 72 judy and 80 kate
11 p38 , 3 P40,3 spits, 10 P40 defended -all shot down
I lost 50 fighters -but the attack gets through -
13 LCT sunk
10 AK sunk -or smashed
1AP
1MLE
1DD
1 PT
1 AO
Some betties I forgot also get 2 more LCT.

His return attack hits the CL, dd force - sinking 3 DDs and the CL yubari -no wonder -I look, and they have run out of petrol

An invasion fleet takes good enough island

As stated -tomorrow the battle line hits darwin -I intend to sink the rest of his invasion fleet at its moorings -and KB is going to strike again.
BIG risk
If his CVs turn up they will win the war -I am 100% port attack tomorrow.
I do not think they are any where about!

Well I risked all

And how ironic this day was.
I played the turn at work(sshhhhh) as we are in the end of year wind down.
basically Im claiming total success for this operation -over 100 ships were in darwin hbr -counting the 20 odd Pt left -there are reports of only 46 left -and i think most of them have been ventilated.

I run away

For the japanese fan boys -in late 1943

ihave calculated the cost of operations against darwin -(i still have to get away yet -but no sign of his CVs!
Although Avengers arrived in darwin last turn

Over 80 enemy vessells sunk -or crippled -at least 40 LCT I claim sunk, 3 DD sunk, 10 PT, 14 AK crippled, 3 msw sunk, 2 tankers and a MLE sunk
360 A/C destroyed -and many of his trained aussie pilots are no more.

I lost 670 a/c - the hurt being in Kates, Judys -kate pool is sufficient -Judy is empty
Fighter strength is down , but a good number of good units remain
I lost, will lose 1cl, 8 dd sunk, 2cl hurt.

But there will be no invasion of Timor this month or the next -and by then the troop reinforcements will arrive

Our mighty empire has stopped the allies on 3 fronts -Burma, China, the DEI in the space of 1 month
Now for the Solomons.......................

i got away with it

The combat replay was screwy -but the combat report was accurate.
I looked and counted very carefully as 2 more lst sank at darwin today -and ships reported in the hbr went from 46 to 44.
I can claim 60 confirmed sinkings -even if Im half wrong 30 to 40 assualt ships are no more

100000 troops in darwin need a lot of lift -how long have i got now before he gets more at darwin
And of course -what to do next?
His CVs are no where to be seen -I am getting a nasty feeling about this too
His offensive in the solomons gains speed, paras sieze a empty buna base, and Dobodura falls.
He bombs mostly the troops on the kokoda track, rabual and tavoy today.
canton he tries to outflank -but i will shock attack his corps on the coast with my own reinforcements -and with luck I can chase him.

KB gets away -and the massive job of rebuilding the airgroups has to begin.
I also must decide what in the world to do next -I need i reckon 2 weeks to recover from this little op.

Only real fight today -18 betty 13 jake and 19 oscars from gassmatta attacked his dobodura forces - 24 p38 on lrcap failed to stop the betties -flak got 8 though -1APD torped, and a jake hit a AK.
The shorpshire (thought i sunk her) dodged too well.

I buy a division today -it will go to dilli -see -i need that month!

Anyway -hope you are all having a good break, oh small but encouraging readership -hope the empire has more good news for 44

Tabpub re occupies tenibar island with his Pt boats, obviously thinking I will not be back

Ill think carefully about that.

he strikes rabual with heavies, gassmatta with mediums
I strike at dobodura shipping -17 tojo , 10 betty, his LRCAP of P38s do not intercept -but flak drags down 6 bombers, again the shorpshire is missed.

In the PM phase beties again attack attu shipping -and score another AK
Wotje falls silent, I wonder if Tabpub is contemplating a central thrust at the Siapan islands

The day is spent dragging shattered air groups all over the map -and hoping I can hold on.

the pressure grows on the empire
Enemy troops enter tavoy, and this looks serious -40 LCU at Moulmien!
The problem is there are no more rivers to be had until we hit singapore.

tanaka sails from singapore -and promptly loses a DD to a mine -and again has an encounter with the dutch SS in the straight.

Still trying to re organise the air groups -the Fleet is ordered to soerabaya -this whole re organise thing will take at least 2 weeks

I conduct a survey -22 carriers of all types -and just 5 functioning strike plane groups amongst them.
The Judy pool is empty, Jills due in a month, zeke pool empty, kate pool is OK.
Im down to 16 tankers.

Orders today -sending all my tanks at bangkok to tavoy.
The division loading at Home islands will have to go to Burma, and I prepare for the DEI reinforcements that will arrive soon (18 days) by beginging a hunt for any APs I might have left.
There are no spare AKs, APs in the particular empire

That pesky dutch ss in the mallacca straight gets a msw today

I hate this particular SS

The fronts

Home islands
Oil has crept over 400000 units , switched naval ship building back on, I need DDs so bad.

China
Big air battles over hong Kong and canton today -I moved 2 tony units into Honkers
A series of battles sees about 12 tony lost, for a dozen mitchels shot down, I will have to bug out -tomorrow Im sure the place will be creamed

If there was any, any way Matrix could remove the occupied airfield symbol
Its so unfair for the Jap player -every time I move air groups to a field tabpub spots it -and all the bombers that would have been on ground attack immediately cream that field.
It would be okay -if he reconned the fields.
personally think one of the worst features of WITP

Eleswhere in China we keep bombarding at Chenting and canton, I think I can hold.

Vietnam
He is static -Im digging holes

Burma
tavoy is pounded, the tanks are soon to arrive
Bangkok is being pounded
tanaka reaches sabang

DEI
its all about rebuilding the carrier air wings, a lot of dividing and disbanding going on at the moment!

Solomons
BB TF to rabual -going to use em as fast transports at the moment.

Gilberts
He pounds away at Kwal - wonder how long before here is attacked?

the fleet , well nearly everything is at soerabaya -and I have to decide what to do next.

tabpub pounds everywhere.

Only thing to note
I have decided on what I will do next.

Enitowok, and ponape are going to be attacked soon

So far all of the gilberts have fallen easily -and tabpub now knows I never intended to defend them, or fight seriously for them.
Kwaj is stuffed with shipping
Another fwd base stuffed with attack ships -a bit like darwin

I will defend -fight for, strike in this area.
Again I will commit all i have
I feel that tabpub will atack ponape or entiwok soon -but only commit a few CVs, or CVEs/CVL.
A real chance to fight with good odds

KB requires just 2 days more to rebuild itself
experience is average, but at this stage what does it matter -its all about numbers.
The BBs leave soerabaya -covered by the CVEs
What ever fuel I can scrape up -and this really is scraping the bottom of the barrell -is being diverted to truk -siapan.

To boost moral -crews are told we will sail to home -and home we must go soon -so many very tired ships..

I look fwd to the next op -a target, an objective to work to always keeps herbiesan happy!.

Jills in 2 days -and man the timing for them could not be better.

The high command has confirmed it
The gilberts it is

Why
because he will not expect major resistance
I will be out of his medium LBA range
he has had a easy run in the gilberts, He might get sloppy and only send a few CVL to cover the next assualt.

tanaka is sighted north of sabang
BB Hiei is spotted at rabual

Again he bombs all over the map -major action of the day:
Tanaka is attacked by 16 thunderbolts,10 vengence and 22 beaufighters.
13 oscars on LRCAP
The TF suffers 7 bomb hits -but all 500lbs or 250lb bombs -so damage is slight.
I order tanaka to continue, overiding the TF desire to retire back to sabang.

The Allies deliberate at canton
15 chinese corps vs 4 div,2 ind brigades

0 to 1, forts 9
4934 to 2541
adjusted 1477 to 45941!!!
The place holds, he suffers 8678 casos!

the enemy enter tavoy in greater strength, I will fight here.

KB needs 1 more day, then she sails -air groups re organised, some in fair nick, some terrible
The battle fleet sails

BB hiei is being used as a fast transport TF -loads Combined fleet HQ for movement to Truk.

tabpub claims certain wheels in motion

Tanaka bombards tavoy -a poor strike though
And then a enemy CV task force appears 2 hexes north of Sabang!!!
ss 1-21 attacks them, promptly sunk

23 hellcat, 18 wildcat,8 corsair 11 avenger,47 barracuda attack sabang
47 oscar defend

4 w/c, 3 hellcat, 10 barracuda shot down for 15 oscar lost -good effort that!
The base is struck, 6 more kates, betty, emily lost
Now what will tanaka do?, his CVs are between him and singapore

The orders are simple -he runs to Vic point -and every Tojo I had training at singapore, plus oscars from Sabang, and a few zekes go there, a desperate attempt to protect the fleet.

His TF is reported to contain 8 CV-8!!!!
I need to know -are some American, or is this a lot of CVE counted as well

Just how many CV do the British get by now?

KB sails -east

The turn opens with tabpub CVs now just off Adaman island!
I am so , so relieved!
maybe he suspects a KB trap, but tanaka will get away

His LBA does attack
42 thunderbolts,50 liberators,33mitchell, 6 welligton -56 tojo,37oscars
8 s/d a few bombers damaged --------------- 21 tojo, 28 oscars lost

tanaka is hit, again though I survive with very minor damage, a CL is badly hurt though
Leaving it behind -I order tanaka to sprint south to safety.

I cannot afford to lose 6 heavy cruisers!!!

These ships will now go home, for rest, and will probably not be committed again until we fight at the Phillipines.

The great bulk of my forces are slowly re orientating to the east, will take at least 2 weeks I think.
Shokaka is at 21 system damage -she definately has to go home

I lose a troop carrying AP today to a ss -base force unit

The CL Isuzu is sunk as it creeps south away from vic point, but Tanaka is away and clear.
He bombs all over the map

I moved some tojos to rabual -I lose 1 to liberators -there moral is shot

To the east of canton I order a shock attack, 1 chinese corp vs 2 divisions, hope its enough.

The fleet continues east, as does the bulk of my air.
a 2/3 strength battalion arrives at Palembang -it will go to malaya.

a mighty fleet of 7 sallies attack his troops in Vietnam
Feel my wrath tabpub

PM
Jaluit pounded
Port moresby pounded
I LRCAP Rabual from kavieng today -32 liberators meet 24 Tony, 19 tojo
9 libs shot down for 3 fighters, the tojos ran away

Its a start -but I intend to start fighting now over the solomons

Shock attack east of canton -1 to 1, buggar
Tabpub tells me he wants to "pin me down" in China -he is succeeding

I recieve the first jills today -3 a day now coming.
Begin moving my 2 george units towards the solomons as well -no miricle plane -but we use what we have!

The trick is to keep KB hidden now
The AM phase sees 31 liberators attack Bangkok, 10 T bolts escort.
17 zeke intercept -and its a fizzer -1 lost, 1damaged liberator

Eniwetok pounded
He sweeps rabual with p38s, no oposition

The PM phase sees a bigger effort, the 15 zeke at bangkok fight 12 T bolts,42 mitchell, 90 liberators
7 zekes lost, and 94 hits on the field.
Bangkok is too hot -but I intend to keep on LRCAPing the place -lots of Tojos get orders to move to all the fields south and west of bangkok

PM is pounded
Munda
Russell
And the usual ground bombardments at Chenting, Canton, Tavoy, rahaeng

Home islands
Jills arriving! -3 per day, its going to be painful rebuilding these groups.

China
Stalemated I feel

Vietnam
3 divisions on the march back to Burma

Malaya
I change my mind about troops arriving in DEI -all will go here.

DEI
The fleet still crawling east -sucking the empire totally dry of fuel as it goes

Solomons
I begin to fill all the fields with rubbish float planes, recon ect, the idea is to help disguise when the bombers move in for a daily visit.
I want tabpubs work load to increase, and maybe miss something.

Central pacific
I have every drop of fuel left in the empire headed to siapan - this really will be the last op for quite a while, the fleet after the next 2 months must go home -refit, save fuel.

Operational plan for the battle in the marshalls completed -just can I get the fleet there in time.

liberators hit bangkok -all my LRCAP clouded in
he sweeps rabual again, the unescorted liberators resume there milk runs to the base

PM is pounded -and I think I will abandon it

In the PM phase:
tavoy pounded
jaluit
Finshesan -4 jake launch from here -dodge 6 kiityhawk, lose one to flak -and miss a DD
bangkok again hit -damage here now terrible -and the supplies now go orange

I do a stock take of the fleet
naval fighters -exp 75 to a low of 46
bombers - exp 82 to 38 -but only 3 groups under 50
Torpedoe bombers -82 to 43 -mostly good though

Only real note in orders -2 units of george fighters approach the front in the solomons, and tonies move into the triangle of LEA, sag,sag and finshesan.
just to annoy him.

i feel the forces against me must be immense by now!

AM phase

OH BUGGAR< BUGGAR< BUGGAR -an invasion fleet approaches Eniwetok!!
The fleet has not reached Palua yet

Today he bombs Port Moresby -the single oscar deployed there is shot down.
BUt thats 40 bombers bombing a target of no account for nothing, so I will send another 2 oscars tomorrow!

From sag, sag:
12 Tony, 3 jake -40 kittyhawks defend buna
11 Tony lost, the 3 jake actually put 3 bombs into a AK

From gassmatta -4 oscar, 3 Betty - 34 kittyhawks -ouch, all shot down
Again -29 oscar escort 8 helen, 15 betty
The oscars do well -11 lost, but only 3 bombers lost to flak, and a betty torps the Shorpshire

Orders

OK, we are too late, but a new plan is forming up.
The fleet continues east -now at full speed.

I made an error -I let tabpub read my AAR up until end of 42
Of course my convoy route is there in all its detail -and guess what -its still the same, and like bees to honey, the SS are headed towards legaspi and the route

The plan
he must hit Ponape next
1/
Tell tabpub that the empire declares Ponape "the line in the sand
2/
position the fleet north of siapan
3/
he invades ponape
4/
we stike, maybe even counter land at entiwok -troops a plenty at Siapan, if I can find enough APs
If not enough lift available -I hope to get the convoy that will pick up his troops for refit , rest.
The most frustaring thing about this invasion -as predicted -it appears only lightly covered by CVs -or CVLs.

6/11/43
landings at Enitwok, mines claim a LCI
ss-019 sinks a dd in malacca straight -but sunk in return at last
Munda recieves a naval bombardment
And as predicted -the escort for the Enitwok invasion is not huge -KB could have overwhelmed it even now.
BB colorado hits a mine, a AK hits one

Quite a few ships hit mines during the invasion -no MSW tabpub -naughty boy

the AM phase -22 p38 lrcap the invasion
gassmatta hit hard (no one home)
Rossel island bombed -(no one there iether)
Munda pounded -invasion soon!
tavoy too
14 oscar escort 3 helen from gassmatta, 26 kittyhawk,4 boomerang
8 oscar lost, the helens turned away

PM phase
12 mitchell, 6 beafighter encounter 29 tony over finchasfen
4 s/d 3s/d 1 lost
13 oscar, 3 helen try again, another 9 oscar lost

and some jakes had a go today -all lost
The allies landing at E includes 3usmc and the 33rd div -they shock, and forts to 0, this will be terribly quick

Orders
Home islands
The desperate do not build anything policy sees oil get over 500000 today, a miricle!

China
Im pinned -awaiting destruction in 44 I think

Burma
I need to do something here -we grind away at Tavoy and rahaeng, I am slowly losing strength, the pounding of supplies at bangkok is going to ultimately do it, I will have to time the disengage very carefully!

PNG
2 BBs to finch tomorrow, and the George will debut

solomons
Munda is doomed -the troops are without supplies -period

Central pacific
Gawd, the fighting has reached here.
I tell tabpub quite plainly -PONAPE is the line in the sand, make of it what you will
The plan -I aint got one yet -but the fleet continues to come east.

BB west virginia hits a mine at E
His SS get 3 AKs today
Huge raid bangkok
George debut over Finchesan

46 P38 sweep -24 george, 14 zeke
8s/d 8 lost 4 lost

Munda pounded

he strikes at the BBs -20 george, 15 zeke CAP
11 kittyhawk downed -2 500lb hits on the hiei

14 george,24 tony escort 14 betty ----17kittyhawk,4 boomerang cap
3 lost 5 lost 4 lost to flak 6s/d, 2s/d
CA Northampton torpedoed

Eniwetok falls
Landings at Munda!

Losses today -45 to 46
George not spectacular -but the air battles today modelled really well -wish every encounter was as realistic

Orders today -shuffle air units about, the attrition to george units will see about 3 days life I think, the BBs run away again

Still the fleet crawls east -sucking the empire dry of fuel

tabpub finally gets MSW to Eniwetok
Today I lose 3 msw , a PG to SS and mines -a bad day indeed.
As all ship building is on hold -they will not be replaced iether -the fleet shrinks day by day!

He has buggard his Munda Muddle -only a HQ unit landed -why did I not attack!

Bangkok -I try to fight -21tojo,17 zeke on LRCAP -37 thunderbolt, 220 mediums

My LRCAP is blasted aside

27 george now at rabual -25 unescorted liberators -
4 lost 11 shot down

Munda is pounded -68 corsairs in the mix -man, the danger zone!
23 betty,3 helen encounter 18 p38, 16 bettys get through and sink a AK near dobadura

Several ships hit mines at eniwetok
tabpub admits he screwed up the invasion of Munda
Airbattles still over bangkok -i lose badly again

he bombs SORONG!!!!, and bang, there goes 50 oil supplies, and for me -thats a lot

My george units are wrecked, rabual was not a good place to be, too high a service damage
I continue to shuffle air units in/out of the lea/gassmata front line, everywhere else its all about grimly hanging on.

The fleet sails from Siapan, due east

more air unit shuffling, george units withdrawn.
Big effort planned tomorrow

Munda fell, the starving troops offered little resistance

tabpub has begun bombing Ponape -the fleet is unspotted east of siapan

Big battles in the solomons today.
results were poor.
BB haranua hit twice
one enemy AK sunkAbout 70 tonies, zekes lost
Lilly units savaged
sally units destroyed, only about 8 enemy planes shot down

I moved a lot of planes into Port moresby -tabpub has let the place alone for ages -the raids flew in the morning, but his in the afternoon (he left target designation to commanders choice for groups in GG) caught a lot of planes on the ground

One gamble lost today!

I will again begin the task of clawing crippled air units out of bases to keep the pilots, and begin rebuilding

There is now a veritable stream of planes flying from the DEI training ground to the solomon front, and crippled units heading back.
