...but I had to post it online to get some tech support elsewhere (sorry).

This is demonstrating a water mod for Silent Hunter II. As you can see, it looks great except for the hexagonal overlay that shouldn't be there. Oh, well, the old Type II U-Boat looks pretty good.

I appreciate that sentiment, Nilbog. The game itself has been superceded by
SH III, but my PC won't run it. The player-created mods are what keep SH II alive. (Sounds familiar, doesn't it?)

Actually it tracer Glenn....I made this profile to razz Gobby a couple years ago and forgot about it!

Those underwater shots are nice.

I've shied away from FPS stuff cuz my gaming/online box (a Pentium-III) couldn't handle em.  But that 7 year-old system went TU a couple days ago, and I just ordered the parts for a new one (Core2 Duo).  Once its up and running I might check that game out!

LOL -- I had no idea! Anyway, SH III might work for you -- I dunno. I kept a bunch for old mods for SH II, and for a lark, decided to try it again. The "Das Boot" sound mod is fantastic, though. Write me, tracer, and I can give you links or send you the mods

Guys, I am so sorry to temporarily get so OT, BUT, I am currently trying to get Matrix to acquire a subsim game. For SPWaW, the strategic implications are obvious. If you're a German fan, then you can fight both the war on land and the war at sea.

Ok, I'm done now. Back to your regularly-scheduled programming.

SH III rocks, and stole about seven days of my life over the Christmas break. I was hoping to avoid using the word 'immersive' about a sub-sim, but, well, it's immersive!

Definitely worth a look, IMHO.

Back when you were a MOD, you would have moved or locked this...

LOL -- nope, KG the former mod wouldn't have to give a to KG the gamer. Actually, I think I DID do that to myself once.

Oh, man, does this mean I really have to buy a better PC so I can play current games ?

I sure am glad that I don't have any issues with SPWaW.

That reminds me (back on the proper subject) -- Alby, you said you've had some game crashes -- got that sorted out yet?

I am now getting the Black screen thing...

My current anti virus required an upgrade for continued support, so now ever since My game does the black screen thing from time to time...
even after shutting down all running Anti virus tasks.

There has to be something with the games 'refresh" rate or something that is causing this...
I wonder If Mike or Tom has any conclusions.

Alot of people are getting this black screen thng anymore.

seems to happen to me when the screen is switching to a different unit or viewpoint

I just had a video card failure of my MSI nvidia ti4200,blew two components off the actual card from a power spike from a cheap power supply,,,changed to a ATI radeon x1300 pro and had to switch to the ATI versions of the OMEGA drivers that I was using with the G-force 4 ti4200,, to make a long story short check if the spyware and anti virus programs are useing or needing any java script utilities in their scanning, thats what was conflicting with the way the omegas treat the running of SPWAW,and what was giving me black screen misfunctions.

now the only problem I've discovered is with the new vid card I can still play and screen shot with it working regularly,, but the "Y" button for range hot key function in the game must be default use for something else out of game because if I try to use it rather than going into the units info screen and mouse clicking the change range line,, it crashes to desktop??? I can work around it, but it involves alot more clicking!!
