A bitter irony: Use your printer alot and you pay for ink, don't use it enough and the heads dry up and you need a new printer. My Epson Stylus Photo 900 costs about $25 for Black and $40 for Color. A roll of film on Photo Quality 5x7's can use a half a color cartridge AND home printed pics don't have a long shelf life. Most pictures ie:family, pets etc. i only oogle over every five years. "Ohhhh, look how cute you were Zachary when you were a widdle furst gwader!""Shutup Dad or i''l kick your A$$! You're so embarassing" Lol!

So true!

One thing though, the R-380 is claimed to print better than lab quality and the new inks are guaranteed to also be superior to lab photos in fade resistance and durabilty (as well as being waterproof). I can attest that the picture quality is simply amazing (I'll comment on durabilty in 10 years if I'm still alive). Those pictures do suck up the ink though, which is why I'm keeping my R-300 and generic inks for all routine photo printing. I've ordered some cheap generic ink for the R-380 so we'll see how that works. It's from a company that I haven't used before NEXiMAGING. They sell Epson ink at a pretty good discount too if you want "the good stuff".

If you want to print photos and keep them for years you need to aim at the better Epson printers. Like the R-800 which features an extra coating cartridge.

Not a priority for me... I'll keep the originals in digital form anyway. I've taken so many pictures out here that they number in the thousands of shots. I can just imagine the cost of printing even a fraction of them.

"As it is now with the download version first but with the option to pay the extra $10 then and get sent the box copy when available. "

I also vote for this option.

I'm one of the luddites... I always want an original disc when I buy a game. Partly because I'm using dialup, but also because I like to have something physical in my possession for my cash...

Through Best Buy, so I can wait a couple of months and pick them out of the discount rack for $9.99

Personally I like companies that provide download immediately with boxed version shipped as soon as available.  For example that's the way AGEOD initially released Birth of America (pre-Matrix distribution).  I am happy to pay an extra $10 for the download with boxed version shipped later if the boxed version includes a printed manual.
