WW2 is barely on syllabus in UK Schools in Scotland it was focussed on the Great Reform Act, Pitt the Younger, Chartists, Napoleonics, 1848, German Unification, Italian Unification, Crimea, US Civil War (a little), Opium Wars, Indian Mutiny and the Bismark in general (kulterkampf etc) through till WW1 including causes etc (at least in my school !!!) so 1795 - 1918 was the examinable period (Basically anything in a Flashman Book was in syllabus ) WW2 in total got about a week of tuition mostly on the Holocaust, rise of the Nazi Party, Dunkirk, Battle of Britain, Dresden and a little bit Japan (but very little) WW2 was not an examinable subject so it was covered lightly we certainly didnt cover the Pacific in detail.
