How do I scuttle? I am using UV 2.50 and I am unable to scuttle Yorktown with 83/40 damage. I also have "vestigal" squadrons, eg VF-42 and VT-5 with no aircraft on Yorktown after higher numbered component sections of each squadron have left Yorktown. These other, now land based components of VT-5 and VF-42 do not receive replacements. It gets even more complex. I will post more complete detail later after another experiment. Additional problem involves F4F-3 and F4F-4 upgrades in in the same squadron, eg VF-42. Damn, I love this game! I just wish it would work! UV 2.50 does not seem to show F4F-4 losses. Maybe I have not had F4F-4 losses yet so they don't show on the air loss screen.

Why do ya want to scuttle Yorktown at this "early" state of damage? do not abandon the efforts to keep her by sailing her into a safe port! Where is the carrier crawling right now?

As for the landbased ex-carrier squadrons: have the same problem on the IJN side with Vals, Kates and Zeros. Have no clue why they doesnt receive any replacements once the original squadron got torn apart!?!

Yorktown is effectively out of the game. I was able to get her to Cairns (port level= 6). By the end of May she has 81 sys 0 flot while at anchor. At speed 0, she will take forever to get to Noumea and then PH, say nothing of repair and return. Two questions arise. First, I have considered scuttling to get rid of the "spurious" squadrons that she will not release for merging. Secondly, I wonder if scuttling will increase future ship reinforcement speed, since keeping a useless Yorktown at Cairns forever "only" saves me 350 - 10% Victory points. OF COURSE IT IS INMATERIAL, SINCE I CAN FIGURE OUT HOW TO USE THE "SCUTTLE" BUTTON ON THE SHIP INFORMATION WINDOW! Another serious problem arises when aircraft upgrades interact with squadron component transfers - this creates a real night mare, even with UV 2.50! Another problem occurs when I load VF-3 on Lexington at Noumea. If a squadron section is left at Noumea, when I load it later, it merges with the original but a "spurious" section is created which shows no aircraft, can not be removed and an A-20 Havoc picture! Another problem occurs relative to Lexington VF squadron capacities being shown originally as 36, but upon embarkation on Lexington, the Squadron maximum aircraft are dropped to 24 and the rest are put into reserve. Once landed (requires 2 turns), the squadrons return to maximum = 36, but the lost size is useless for Lexington CAP. There are so many unanswered questions with this game and I have read every blurb that I can find on both this site and Spooky's. I wish that there was some way to go back more than 365 days on this forum........

I sympathize with your assessment of the future usage of the Yorktown.
However, the game rules are, in part, set to reflect what could/would have actually happened during the war. Hence it is quite possible that even if you choose to scuttle the Yorktown, it's Captain ( and perhaps other officers in the command chain above or below ) would
disagree with that discision. Historically, the allies could NOT afford to lose any CV at that stage of the war. It's also possible that if there are not enough other vessels with the CV to pick up the remaining crew, scuttling would be deemed impracticable.
