(1.804v)Ok I know that CV's can transport (F4F/P-40....) are there any other ships that have VF/VB transport capabilities besides carriers for the allied player? The old Langley was set up to do this but it is classified as an AV?

Other question how do I get my B-26's of the (42nd BG/SW pacific command) across the Pacific? B-17's have the range but the smaller 2 engine bombers do not.

I have seen arcive pictures of B-25's/A-20/B-26/P-38 on cargo ships with their wings disassembled, can ships of this type transport in the game?

AKs will transport any air unit. The planes will all be made damaged, which represents disassembly for transport. As the war goes on, you get some CVEs which arrive with no airgroups. You can use these to transport single engine planes and P-38s without damage/dissasembly. Most aircraft will have to be loaded on AKs though.

A single AK is capable of carrying a single air unit, no matter what size. You may wish to break down your air unit before you load it, this spreads the risk of losing an entire air unit at sea.

Just select "load troops" from the ship information screen of the TF. In the list you will see not only the LCUs eligible for loading, you will also see all of the elegible air units.

The rest of the space on the AKs can be filled with supplies as with any other unit.

I believe that the AK has to be over a particular size. Since I've been playing the CHS exclusively for over a year, I cannot say with authority what that size is (it is lower in CHS than in stock), but I believe it is 5000 capacity in stock and 4400 capacity in CHS - unless this was changed in a patch.

Not that i know. I've used small AK's in stock to carry air groups iirc.

For the Allies your standard 4500 AK works fine. I have never seen any AK be unable to load an aircraft unit.

You definitely want to break up the air groups. I lost a 64 plane BG to a sub just out of SF.

Also, a nice trick is to hold up on the transport of your fighter squadrons until they can go in a large convoy. Then at least if the convoy is attacked the ship carrying the air unit is less likely to be the one hit.

Air unit load costs vary depending on the size of the plane and the size of the unit, but I believe even a B-29 squadron would only be a couple of hundred load cost. Only the tiny capacity AKs are incapable of carrying aircraft. Aircraft transport is a good use for the 1000 capcity AKs.

Thanks, yep one AK will transport an Air group, Also does it matter if you station an AG from the Central Pac to say SW Pac?

Units from non-restricted commands can be freely moved to the operating area of another command. It is always a good idea to turn "accept replacements" to off when you do so. A unit will collect replacements if it is at a base with at least 20000 supply or it is within transfer range of the HQ for the base at which the unit is presently stationed and that HQ is at a base with at least 20,000 supply. If you leave "accept replacements" on, then you will want to carefully check for unit fragments before moving that unit again, as they may have been created as replacements at a base where you did not expect them to be.

With the size restriction thing... I guess that my early experience with complete B25 airgroups (72 planes) needed a fairly large ship. I never realized until now that a small squadron won't require the same size ship.... and I play the CHS where the allies have no air groups, only squadrons!

If your AC has a extended range of 7 you just need to get it to PH. From there on you can hop it all the way to Noumea, atleast with the stock map. Extended range 6 might do it too, but P-40e's with ext. range 5 cant bridge the gap from Palmyra to Canton iirc.
