There is another Eureka in northern California.
Much too small to be on MWiF.

Thank you for repeating the graphic. The right hand map snapshot is much better. The resource is where I would put it, and Bakersfield is in the right place. If you are willing to make one more tweak, I would shift one oil resource from Bakersfield two hexes directly south (in that orientation), to the mountain hex directly to the left of Los Angeles. I would also confirm that Los Angeles ought to be clear, not desert.

There was a reference to Eureka, Australia in Lost today. Apparantly they have a lumberyard there!!

I have the distinction what working with many people from NFLD and I harrassed them for first hand accounts of the terrian there. After many, many hours of discourse, here is what I have come up with.



The plains terrain is the closest to the barrain landscape in most of the areas. One hex is best converted to forest. The mountains is likely the best terrain for those areas too.

Sorry for not doing a more accurate job but it was a quick copy and paste to get the idea across.

I need to confirm a reail link between the mainland and Nova Scotia... maybe some one already has... but the causeway was not built till '56 I believe. Before then it was a ferry link only.

My best guess is the Santa Ynez, as it looks too far north to be the Santa Clara. If someone claims it is the Santa Maria and tributaries I am going to laugh, because they are dry most of the year. None of the central and southern California coastal rivers are very substantial. No river flows from Bakersfield across the coastal mountains, but that is likely due to map and hex boundaries.

The other river in that little map excerpt (the one flowing northerly into San Francisco Bay) is the San Joaquin, and that is a serious river.

(It passes between Oxnard and Ventura, headed east.)

It goes near to the Castaic Lakes, but not over the mountains to Bakersfield.

I'm having trouble identifying the water features then. I thought you had put rivière Moisie on your map (east of Sept-Isles), not the Ste.Marguerite (west). Most Canadian maps seem to show the former preferentially.

Ste. Marguerite runs north towards the lakes at the headwaters of Manicouagan which empties out at Baie Comeau. Moisie runs more in the direction on your map. I actually wonder if the original designers confused Lac St.Jean - Saguenay (runs west/northwest from the fjord you drew) with Manicouagan (runs north south) and the reservoir at the headwaters (which didn't exist then), or the Outarde which is also big and longer.

i am in Camarillo, just to the right of Oxnard on the google map... it is a dry river bed that seasonaly floods, they are widening the freeway bridges over it at this moment.

Here is as I modified the area.
I think it is much better.
The rivers are (from left to right) : Saguenay (with Saint John Lake), Manikuagan (with semi circular lake), and Moisie ("Moisie" in French means "Rotten", at the female gender -- strange name for a river).

Sept-Îles was moved 1 hex Westwards.

Here's Florida, most of the Bahamas, and the USA's portion of the Gulf of Mexico coast. These bitmaps are newly arrived and Patrice hasn't corrected the map data files yet. That is why some of the lakes (Everglades and New Orleans) are incomplete.

I wanted a screen shot of all the Great Lakes. There are map data problems here - they only affect the cosmetic appearance, not game play.

Some of the western feeder rivers for the Mississippi. These are really famous if you have seen a lot of the western cowboy movies: Red, Brazos, Arkansas, Pecos, and the Platte.

12th and last in the series. The whole 48 contiguous states at zoom level 1.

We are now up to 4501 coastal bitmaps and the program runs fine. This means I will have to trim no more that 10 hex rows from the top of the map. Maybe fewer.

The maps look great and I know the lake coast lines will be fixed soon by Patrice. I only noticed the following:

It's hard to see the river between some of the Great Lakes.  Especially between:
* Lake Superior and Lake Huron
* Lake Erie and Lake Ontario

These rivers are hidden by the country border lines.
