I've seen these automatic hits refered to on the combat resolution screen but can't seem to find any reference to them in the rules manual. Are they the same as 'critical hits?'

Sometimes a Transport will score an auto hit against a sub and then go Veteran, this REALLY takes the cake! Gotta love them, yes we do....
