Oh joy, oh joy....my favorite game of ALL time is back!
I've purchased Cross of Iron, downloaded and installed it, all with no problem.

I've played solo vs the AI in both PC and MMC, and I've played head to head.

The central control panel is great! Cudos on that!

Everything is running great, and it is even better than the old game I remember!

except for one small problem......I have no sound. No ambience, no troop voices,
no intro or video clip music, and .... no explosions!

Being an old player of CC2, CC3, CC4, and CC5, as well as the mods for these games like CC3 Real Red,...and Cases ladders......I can live with this ... 90% of the time.
(I just don't like losing an AT gun because I didn't know it was under mortar fire until it was destroyed).

I have an Intel P4, 3.2 Ghz proc, 1G of ram, 250G hard drive, Windows XP/SP2, DirectX9.0c, SB Audigy 5.1 Surround Sound (can't wait to hear those explosions), and ATI Pro 9800 Radeon, and MediaPlayer 11 installed.

All my drivers are up to date. DXDIAG says everything is fine; the CC3 diagnostic registry and GUID corresponds to what I see posted as the proper addresses; and all DX sound tests work. I have checked all my in-game sound settings and they are supposedly on.

Can you help me? Please?

There is a Sound Volume Slider in Options.  Could that be turned right down?

Your system is alomost identical to mine (down to the SB Audigy, but beefier graphics adapter)

Try switching the Vidoes off (in Options) and restart CoI.

The sound should come through the default wave device.  Only the Videos need an Intel Codec to work properly even though that should be set up during installation.

Does your SB Audigy 5 have an EAX Console screen?

If it does open it up and make sure Enable Audio Effects is NOT selected.

Checked the slider bar...and it is to the far right.
But I slid it left anyway, quit, restarted, played...no sound ( as I expected), reset it to the right max, quit, restarted, played and no sound....

Same with the video clips.....turned it off...quit, restarted, turned it on quit restarted.

I see the videos, I just don't hear anything.

If it means anything or can shed light on possible setting problems.......
if I put a music CD in my player and start it....I can hear it alright.....
up to the point I start CC3...then it cuts out, until I quit CC3, then the music CD
comes back.....BUT, the slider bar is advanced like it thinks it has been playing all the time I was in CC3. Other games I have installed, I can listen to CD music or Web streaming while playing those games.

I just want to hear those explosions reverberate in my surround sound system!!!!!! Cranked all the way UP!!!! KABOOM!!!!

Sorry I took so long to respond........

I was playing CC3 - CoI...and listening to the myriad of gun sounds and explosions.....excellent job!

My problem was in the SB Audigy EAX control panel....had to turn off the "Enable Audio Effects".

Yep, the Audigy is well know for causing massive problems when "audio effects" are turned on. A constant complain with many many games.
