Sad news from the Philippines, over 73,000 men of the US and Philippine Armies surrendered today at Clark Field in the Philippines. Hundreds of Japanese bombers and overwehlming numbers of Japanese troops finally forced an end to the battle. Almost 20,000 men at Bataan still hold out - but not for much longer.

In other equally bad news, Singapore's defenses were also breached today as Japanese troops shock attacked across the river.

OK, time to put away our '03 Springfileds, M1917 Tin Hats, and Khakis...and get out our M-1 Garands, M-1 Steel Pots, HBT OD's - and get mean.

News today - combat continues at Bataan, and at Singapore where fighting was particularly heavy. But the British report they cost the Japanese dearly, and their own forces are in good shape.

At Canton China, the Flying Tigers swept in on the airfield unannounced this morning, bombing, straffing, and catching a couple planes on the ground - in retribution for yesterday's raid on Wuchow... the air war in China may be heating up - with both sides delivering calling cards.

13,000 defenders of Bataan surrendered today to 63,000 Japanese troops - the issue was never in doubt since the main army (73,000 men) surrendered at Clark four days ago.

Heavy air action continues over Singapore, and now Rangoon as well - where both sides are throwing in long range bombers - the British attacking a Japanese Division at Moulmein.

Japanese bombers hit Yenen and Changsha heavily today, but over Wuchow the Flying Tigers earned the nick name by downing 18 of 25 Japanese aircraft without loss.

Interesting note about the aircraft losses, the Japanese lost the same number of planes two months in a row, while Allied losses dropped.

Reports from SouthEast Asia:

Singapore still holding strong, though subject to daily bombardments and air raids.

High Command is confident in it's ability to hold for at least one more month in a worst case scenario. However it is expected to last at least 2 or 3 more months as supply is in abundance, troop morale is high, and the men are in highly fortified positions.

Japanese have been stopped dead at Moulmein for sometime now. Rumor's abound of their fondness to the scenery and reluctance to continue with their advance.

Fortress India is up an running, troops and planes are a dime a dozen.

The Royal Navy is doing what it does best, that is, being everywhere and no where, ready to strike at a moments notice.

And that is it for SouthEast Asia.

The Japanese continued their advance down the East coast of Java, taking Kragen today.
Otherwise general activety has dropped everywhere - a sure sign that momentous forces are building up for as yet unkown operations.

Hi,
Left off at March 7th in the game. It's now March 12th in the game - I appologize for falling behind because I know some of you are interested in seeing what kind of results this mod generates, but I have been extremely busy in the ship art project.

I will get bak to the AAR soon.

ABDA SW Pacific, and Australia Commands here:

I want to apologize for ignoring my duties for the last few weeks. I've been busy, but I should have taken the time to update my command area.

Right now...with the fall of the Philippines and Singapore,...Australia, Southwest Pacific, and ABDA commands are in a watch and wait period. We continue to move men and material about, but we have no clue where the Japanese may strike next. We're playing a very nervous waiting game.

ABDA, SW Pacific, and Australia Commands out.

I forgot to make a comment on the sinking of the U.S.S. Bulmer, an American four-stacker.

This DD was escorting a convoy consisting of two AK's and three PG's. What I find amazing about this sinking is the Japanese subs I-168* and I-56* were each able to put a torpedo in the fastest ship in this convoy. Every other ship was only capable of 12 knots, yet the Bulmer was able to do 33. Yet each friggin' Jap sub was able to hit the Bulmer.

To me this is just another example of how the game warps the Japanese abilities at every form of warfare.

Just another bitch.

*Can't remember the exact subs involved.

ABDA, SW Pacific, and Australia Commands out.

Hi Big B,

I recently had a chance to play in a 2X3 game but the Synch problems were crazy. Are you guys experiencing any synch problems in your game?

We had a sync problem that lasted a couple of turns, but after turning combat reports off (on both sides) for two turns - we were back up and everything is fine...

ABDA, SW Pacific, & Aussie Commands:

"Hold until relieved" keeps ruuning through my head. We've been digging in, moving men and material, assembling aircraft, and training ships crews for months...and now it's just a waiting game.

We have no clue where the Japs will strike next in the Dutch East Indies. We see some movement...but it confuses us. Why land troops at Boela??? That I'll never know. But their close proximity has given me opportunity to train pilots and ships crews. I'll have to thank the Jap high command for that. But in the meantime this diversion (?) has me wondering where the main strike will come...Kendari? Koepang? Amboina? Port Moresby? Or maybe there will be no more expansion in the SW Pacific. I don't know. The troops freed up from the fall of the Philippines and Singapore will be going somewhere. Rangoon? China? It's a mystery right now...

And all we do is dig in and wait.

ABDA, SW Pacific, & Australia out:
