The 8th Missouri Infantry Regiment, USA, the only Zouave Regiment from Missouri that I have heard of. A unique unit to use for an LU. The re-enactors have blue jackets, and I have heard of this unit possibly having green jackets, but that may be due to the blue fading and weathering to a greenish hued color.

However, in my TalonSoft mods I use a green-jacketed Zouave that someone else made for this unit, just to be a bit different. Looks sharp. Perhaps there was a green jacketed Union Zouave Regiment, I can't remember, and should look through some of my Zouave books I have yet again. Neat stuff.

Thanx for that link. I saved it. I haven't been to that site in a couple or few years.

I have so many books now, even though I have sold some, and lost everything in 1989 when 1/2 of our block was torched by arsonist-thieves, I am running out of space. Seems that way anyway. However, somehow I manage to buy a few more every year.

Once had all of FL Petre's books concerning Nappy's campaigns, but they burned-up, only have the 1814 Campaign book now, but plenty of others, enough for my purposes and enjoyment.

Even have a few pics from the late 1960s with myself in my 3rd Arkansas gear, in B&W of course, with my 6'2" with bayonet affixed .69 - .72 cal. Belgian Liege piece of junk rifle. Actually it was in very good condition and fireable, and only paid $125 for it way back then.

Oh, BTW, I also realize that Virginia had the first colony of Brits in the USA at Jamestown and that the VA Militia was THE first officially established militia in the USA.

Massachussets had the first official independent Arty. unit, and it is the 3rd oldest established military unit in the world today, supposedly anyway. It is the oldest US Arty unit I do believe.

When I mentioned the colonies and the amounts of militia therein, I was referring to the fact that the northern colonies filled-up with more European immigrants than did the Southern colonies, hence giving the Northern colonies more militia. So, I did misorder the colonies when I mentioned them in reference to the age of the first militias, but not the population and number of militia.

I'm not a Puritan.
