I have never played that one. Is it on North Africa?

No, it is on Gaudalcanal and the Solomon Islands as per your signature. Made by Microprose- a surface action simulation.

Hmm.

1)CC3
2)Great War in the East (SSG)
3)Carriers at war 1 and 2
4)Conquest of the Aegean
5)Panzer general 2

Plenty more, and probably needs a reshuffle, but this lists 5 of the Wargames I have played the most. Surely that means they are the best to me, no?

Ok. Either I never heard of it or I forgot about it. Sounds like it was interesting.

Hmm... I'm not good at wargames, but here is my list, in no particular order

1. Dominions 3
2. Europa Universalis 2/3 (and HOI 2)
3. Medieval Total War 1/2
4. Galactic Civilizations 1/2 (with new expansion pack)
5. UFO: Afterlight and Aftershock (Squad based lite!)/X-com series
6. Conquest of the Aegean
7. Silent Hunter III
8. Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War series (yes, I know it is RTS)
9. Warlords series (including Battlecry)
10. Age of Magic/Master of Magic

As far as board games go, there really are only 4 major wargames for me:
1. Twilight Imperium
2. Diplomacy (6 hours to lose/win by backstabbing your friends)
3. Risk
4. Cults Across America (Lovecraftian Risk-clone)

Risk
Panzer General
Steel Panthers

Would like to try WITP

There was a game called Superpower which could have been good, but had too many flaws.

Fire in the East GDW
Hanibal AH
Am Civil War Victory Games
Terrible Swift Sword TSR
Highway To the Reich Victory Games
World In Flames 5th Edition ADG
Total War ROME Activision
Total War Sho-Gun Activision
Total War Medieval War Activision
1/300 scale WWII armor miniatures

The three computer games by Activision are pretty good.

World in Flames is my active favorite.
Terrible Swift Sword was made by another company before TSR

Victory Games were pretty good.

I left out the games that got me into the hobby, like SPI's Sniper and Napoleon's Last Battles Quad Game or AH's Panzer Blitz or Panzer Leader.

Only really two board wargames I ever really liked and wanted to play over n over.

1. Of course Squad Leader (the origional)
2. Swords & Sorcery (this was an excellent monster fantasy rpg wargame it had three ways to play. Armies vs armies, Armies & Heroes vs Armies & Heroes and Heroes Vs Heroes while playing armies & heroes vs Armies & heroes. You could even go questing while fighting the wargame to get the random power item in the game. That's what was neat no two games or wars were ever the same. Killer Penquins from the North could disrupt or destroy entire army groups on EITHER side. Vortex like tornadoes that could sweep thru raging battles and toss armies all over the map. One of the best fantasy board wargames I ever played. Wish someone had brought something like that to the computer.

Advanced Squad Leader is still one of the best. I for one still buy the modules and mags especially the historical ones. (great maps).

Alesia was another great game. Hope in the future to set it up and give it a whirle.

Starship Troopers was just as good.
