All,

Total n00b here in my first game as allies...

It >seems< as though movement of oil & resources to ports with heavy industry results in the conversion of the cargo into fuel & supplies.

I can't find any reference to this in the manual... Is this truly the case? Should I devote sealift to this, or am I just wasting a valuable commodity (tankers & AKs) for no real payoff?

Thanks!
JF

Welcome onboard. You should definitely transport resources and oil to HI, especially early on, to keep the Japs from getting their hands on it in the SRA. They do produce supplies.

Thanks All!!

Having a blast in my first game.  This tactic does make a difference.  I'm also running supplies to Perth from India... works great!

It's always nice to see the new folks enjoying the game still.
Smart to move those supplies, though the good guys get alot more supplies they ever will need, you have to commit to protecting those merchant vessles to get it to where it will be needed eventually.
I would concentrate on getting the oil out of Java, but be careful when doing it. If you can get it to Darwin that would be where you can then send it via oilers to Sydney/Melbourne.
Rail system really doesn't work too good with oil garrisoned at Darwin.
I also sporadicaly will send a 18k tanker to Sydney.
Good luck and have fun.

Yepper, welcome!

Pulling the Oil and Resources out of DEI, if the IJN will aloow, is always good.  Helps you a little and hurts Japan a lot.

I would pull the stuff out 1 ship TF at a time.  Remember that only TK can pull OIL out and AKs can pull RESOURCES out.  AOs can NOT pick up OIl (but only FUEL).

Good luck, ask ANY question and welcome to the boards.

AOs can pick up oil just fine.

You can learn from my errors some, and JWilkinson's primer on managing JA industry remains vital. Cheers, Ken

I'd use TK and AO for the oil first. AK can move the resources out as well as fuel. Although fuel transportation with AK's halves the capacity of the ship its still worth doing this IMO.
