This is the question for best player in detail battles; Hard Sarge .

Can you describe how do you set up divisions? What do you buy for them? What is most usefull?
I belive this will help all of us in beeing better in detail battles.

Thanks

that is a trick question

overall, I set up my Divs with what I can get and what I hope will be needed

but I do want/like to have a long range weapon, with the sniper skill, a good short range weapon, with Bart and maybe some Med

most Divs should have at least one Med wagon with it

I think overall, I think more along the line of Corps, more the Divs

with in a Army, I like to try and set up a Cav Div, I would rather mass my Cav then have each Div have just one

I also like to have at least 2 Guns Bdes in at least one of my Divs, but there are dangers with haveing large Units of nothing but Guns, a Surprise attack and shatter and lose all of your guns, so you really want support troops with them, plus, the more you keep in one Div, the better chance you have of not getting it into action, or to be on the wrong side of the action

soooo, you want some troops that are fast and can hit HARD, you want troops that can either move in close and slug it out, with out breaking when they do so (which late war, BArt and Gattlings are great) or  can be used as a hold force

with a Holding force in place, then your Cav is much more dangerous, as well as you long range shooters

so, Sharpshooter, Bart, Med, Zuoare, gattlings, Q Horse (Horse Arty should be top on the list, but I like speed more then firepower for my Cav)

Eng and Pioneers are good and needed also (for a group that is going to be going after seiges, I like to have Engs and BArt in each unit of the Div (besides the Med wagon)

Scouts are a very good add on also, normally when I am out of what I need elsewhere, then I start adding scouts, when it comes around, Balloons are worth there weight in Gold, but you only need one or two with in a Army

with the new Arty rules, the Baggage train looks much better now

but overall, I think it should be based on what you like, what you want, and what you plan on doing

I do not think my Divs and Armies would work as well for someone else, as they don't think or plan as I do, but it is a general idea and should work :)
