NO!

I would sooner let my 5 year old run my supply train for me than use the auto-convoy system.

This is one of the few things you must micro-manage, no ifs ands or buts.

Easy way is to set up CS covoys to some large key bases (Truk, Saigon, ect) then use smaller convoys to move the supplies to the specific bases you need them at.

Same works for moving oil/resources. Load up using "Do not unload" then move to a big base (still with do not unload) and form a mega convoy with escorts. Single ship convoys will get picked off by subs.

Never. Convoy system is 85% micromanagement and 15% CS.

I'm a newbie, started a game as US with computer controlling India region.  I did not pay attention to this region while I was busy cycling through a few turns doing minimal housekeeping and awaiting new ships to arrive on the West Coast.  Auto-convoy sent a taskforce right along the Duch East Indies coast line....lost numerous AK's.  Also, Computer did the same thing with some surface combat ships and I lost a BB. I was doing OK and wininng in ship points before this happend.  ARRRGGGHH!

I am also a newbee and try to learn by dooing.
So playing Japan in scenario 15 I set all the basis on Aut Convoy and all the ships in Osaka on Off. Only 1 AK and ! TK got a Yes. Then wait and see.
Actually only waiting and seeing nothing happen for weeks. So I shut down the Aut.Convoy system.
Afterwards I think I was maybe to quick. Maybe, because of the abundance of oil and resource stocks, there was no need for a convoy at that time.
At the moment I am trying to get an efficient transport between Saigon and Brunei. Fuel and supply to Brunei and oil and resources on the way back.
It seems however that I can do that only manually, by changing DH and homeport every time. Seems not possible to use CS fot this. Or, again, I do something wrong.
Anybody a solution?

Basic rule - don't let the computer control anything
