Well, it seems I didn't phrase that correctly, what I meant was off the thread, as in directly responding to that thread. i.e. I was hoping that you would respond to Topic 1 as a reply to the Topic 1 thread, respond to Topic 2 off the 2 thread, etc.

However, now that I think about that, please disregard:

Respond to all topics in a single post if you would prefer...

Is the interest still alive? I haven't had a response in any of the four topics. I would be happy to make the choices, but I was under the impression that you all wanted input, which I'm okay with.

Topic 1: Roster Sizes - 35, 55 or 60?
Topic 2: Game Version - v1.51 or CE 4?
Topic 3: Finances - Is $125mil a reasonable amount for all teams?
Topic 4: The DH Rule - DH in 1 of 2 leages, DH in the 1 and only league, or no DH at all?

Please submit your answers as soon as you are able.

Hey Frozen

I'm still looking forward to this league. Should be alot of fun.

Topic 1 - 55 or 60 is good with me
Topic 2 - my vote is for CE4
Topic 3 - $125 mil seems ok - I was thinking more like 100 or 110 to keep us on our toes.
Topic 4 - No DH

I was aiming for $100 mil too, but I'm not getting that figure as an option. I'll tweak the percentage a little more to see if I can come up with that.

I am still on board, but dont really have preferences regarding the choices, so whatever the group decides is best works for me.

1. 60 players
2. 1.51 I'm not in the mood purchase an upgrade.
3. I don't really care about the finances.
4. No DH

Just FYI, CE 4 (and it's predecessor Community Edition 1 through Community Edition 3) are free upgrades.

I'm sorry, I've been out of town for the past few days.

My preferences, though I'm okay with anything and am not going to suddenly withdraw or some nonsense if it goes a whole other way:

1) 55 or 60 roster size
2) I'm only familiar with 1.51 but I'd be willing to upgrade to CE 4 and give it a go; I just might have a slight learning curve depending upon the changes.
3) I could agree with CBeasley on something a bit less than $125 mil. But I'm not very concerned about it one way or the other at all.
4) I'd prefer either DH in only one of two leagues or no DH at all.

Well, here you have it-- these are the results. I'll have the association created and uploaded shortly. I'll pass on the URL once that's done.

Topic 1: Roster Sizes - 60!
Topic 2: Game Version - CE4!
Topic 3: Finances - $100mil!
Topic 4: The DH Rule - No DH! Pitchers, start swinging them bats!

Hey Frozen,

Will we be able to send you a draft profile before you do the draft?
I know getting everyone together for player by player picks wouldnt work.

Something like:

Pick 1 - best overall starting pitcher
Pick 2 - best overall hitter
pick 3 thru 4 - best hitter focus on speed and defence

and so on.

thanks,
Chris

Yes-- there will be an initial draft based on draft profiles uploaded by each GM. Once I have uploaded the initial association (pre-draft), each GM downloads it, creates their draft profile and then uploads that. When I have everyone's profile (or at a set deadline date) I will run the draft, then Spring Training.

At this point, I will allow some time for GMs to shuffle and organize their rosters. Then, we begin simming. In fact, that's topic 5...

Topic 5: Sim Session Length & Frequency

I believe a sim session should cover Sunday-to-Saturday and that these should be simmed either 2 or 3 times/week:

Sim Length - Option 1: Sunday-to-Saturday
Sim Length - Option 2: Seven calendar days.

Sim Frequency - Option 1: Mondays and Thursdays
Sim Frequency - Option 2: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Your thoughts...?

Either sim length look good to me. I'd go for Option 2 though on 3 times a week.

artistic...

We have room. Currently there are 6 human-controlled teams in a league that will consist of 10 teams; 2x 5-team divisions. That leaves four slots open and now your Dallas Stars have filled one of those slots.

Kindly go over past posts and submit your answers for the five Topics. Thanks and welcome in!

Hi chaps, I would be very interested in joining this. I have no previous online experience of this game, as I am new to it, but I was previously a member of an online football management game for three years until it disbanded.

I'd have to state up front that while I have followed baseball for about five years and understand the rules of the game, I may well miss things when it comes to the nuances.

Being in the UK, baseball is shown here twice a week, at 1am, and I've had to pick the rest up from reading articles on mlb.com. I believe the best way to learn, for myself, would be to play in a league (especially a fictional one where in-depth knowledge of existing players is not needed) where I could benefit from others' knowledge, rather than playing solo games where I may miss out on a lot of the subtleties.

However, if you feel I am too inexperienced for the league, I would understand.

Can I ask for a postponing of this league? I have run into some serious computer issues, which may result in having to reformatting my hard drive.  I hoping to avoid this, but I may not have a say in the matter.

Effective immediately, we'll begin using the message board that darkchu created for us. Please register as soon as you are able. It would be best to continue correspondence there as we can divide and sort information much easier than here.

Edge!

Consider yourself in. You'll never gain any experience if you're never given a chance to learn and play. You may have to deal with more obstacles that other, experienced GMs, but if you're willing to work around this-- so am I.

Register and jump onto the message board and we'll talk more there.

Thanks, have joined that board although there are no threads yet.

I've also just noticed that CE5 has now been released.

I'm still waiting for a response from darkchu on my request for admin rights on the board. Darkchu has done us the favor of setting up the board and I simply need access to work the threads into topics that we will use.

As far as CE 5 is concerned, I'm running PureSim on 2 PCs; 1 at work, 1 at home. The home PC has v1.51 while the work PC has CE 5. The only real topic that we're unclear on is the game version to run. I really want CE 5, but we're still on the fence with this.

Also, we have 3 of our potential GMs signed up... it would be great (but not required) to have everyone signed up.

The message board is not only up, but now it's being populated with posts and showing signs of activity. Swing by and register when you get a chance and start reading and posting. I hope to have the association started by the end of the month/beginning of May.

Our message board is here : http://puresimleague.proboards54.com/index.cgi

To correct a previous statement I made, membership in the Association's message board in fact is mandatory. All anouncements will be made there and it shall become our primary means of communication. If you have not signed up yet, please do so as soon as you are able.

Thank you!
