production. Then I will have my revenge

Yes, the Franks pack a punch!
But Andy got so many P-38s that it's not a very good use of Imperial resources.

Brave little sub

Ro's are definitely worth building. Sending swarms, or even just some of them can prove efficient, just like you tend to show it...

Unfortunately it wasn't the long lance but the substantially less powerful (533mm) submarine-only torpedo.

The Type 95 is rated with a 893 size warhead, the Type 93 1080.
It's the Type 92 that got a small 661 size warhead.

The old Arkansas with 115 durability and top speed of 21 kt most likely didn't enjoy
the 2 torpedos that slammed into her old hide!

Just noticed that the battle for Bangkok has now been raging for a full month!

I also wonder how the enemy troops are holding on in Bonin Jima - guess they got plenty supplies?
Planned a bombardment for tomorrow. No use trying a counter attack, the enemy will be dug in with high for levels
on mountain terrain...just ask Andy

The first I-400 subs with 3 Glen's have arrived. Loaded them with mines and sent them into the Central Pacific. Maybe
we can catch a prize or two.

Apart from this I can only dig deep holes and do my best to prepare for any eventuality.
Before the War is over I'm sure Andy will throw everything he got at me.

Picture:

Kaiten mounted on Japanese submarine I-370
when departed Hikari Base in Yamaguchi Prefecture on February 20, 1945.
I-370 was sunk off Iwo Jima on February 26 with kaiten unlaunched.

And as another Japan player in late war (we're coming near to the end of 44) one of the nice things about even RO subs is you can do something with them. The majority of other counterattack opportunities will end in failure or are at best pyhhric (sp?) victories. But sending subs out gives you somehting to do without a whole lot of risk.

For once it is me that's waiting for Andy's turn...typical on quiet Saturdays!-)

You're right Erstad, playing Japan from 44-46 can be difficult for aggressive players..shall not mention names
It's mostly a waiting game, and with most of the fleet gone by 45 there's fine little to do at times.

Subs is a way to take the war to the enemy. For this reason I even miss the Seiran floatplane bomber on my I-400 subs.
Would have been great to have just one more offensive weapon. My advice to Matrix is to find place for this and more mini subs.

I have always had the feeling that Andy would attempt to recapture India, doesn't look like it's going to happen.
I've already moved out as many units I can, the units left there are all 'garrisons'. Still,  with 9 forts even a regiment can defend against a small army.
I'm now using bases like Calcutta like major air bases that provides training and R&R for depleted units.

Another plan is to fix all remaining warships and throw them against the enemy when he makes his last ditch attempt to invade Imperial soil!
Still got a battle fleet, it just takes sooo long to fix battle damage. Even 20 sys dam takes 4+ months.

Another shock attack removes the last forts in Bangkok! I only got one more regiment
to feed into the cauldron. Still, this siege puts a smirk on my face - Andy must have depleted
a whole army to reduce one fortress city alone and there are plenty more to go.

Bangkok finally falls and our troops retreats north to Kratie, a base with 8 forts and
450 AV. The enemy armored units pursued and 12 are in the hex. Doubt Andy got strength to reduce this base immediately.
I'm marching all depleted units to Rangoon for some R&R.

Hm strange, enemy carriers withdrawing from the Bonins again.

Lots of sub sinkings over the last days. 2 enemy subs were sunk and today 2 RO subs
were hit and sunk by ASW ac near Marcus.

No attacks on Kratie - as expected. I'm keeping a low profile, moved 300 trained fighters to
Home Islands. Got another 300 in the Okinawas and another 300 on Formosa and 400 in the PI's.

Got a stack of divisions in the Home Islands now, lots of Militia and half strength units destined
for every possible theater. Good to have a reserve

In the south the evacuation of troops from Northern New Guinea and surrounding bases continues.
Brought several major combat formations to the PI's. Pretty sure this is one place Andy will never
set foot. So I move rested troops to the frontlines while malaria ridden units are given R&R in Manila.

Sent in the kitchen sink to defend the Bonins. If it's a comfort the US fleet also took a severe beating.

Still got 5 light, 5 heavy cruisers and 6 battleships left in various states of repair:

Siemrem Reap falls and we pull slowly back towards Pnohm Pen.
There is no reason to challenge enemy LBA, so we're moving more and more air units
east.

As I see it the final battles of the war will be waged closer to the Home Island.
Knowing Andy he will attempt to either invade the Home Islands themselves or capture
bases close enough to launch B-29 against them.

Slowly I'm pulling out units from the fringes of the Empire and readying our forces for
one last stand against the enemy. With 11 months left of the war the enemy doesn't have
time or resources to launch more than 2-3 major amph operations. If we can hurt him seriously
in his first attempt the others may have to be scaled down or cancelled all together.

For each month that passes I re-evaluate the vulnerability of all bases.
Places like the Palau's are now less likel to be invaded by the enemy and troops can be moved into
the Marianas, Philippines or Home Islands.

The Kwantung Army is also preparing for battle against the Reds. Harbin is being turned into
a fortress with 270 aviation support. The plan is to place 200 Shinden there and let the Reds
try their luck

Come Hell or High Water says I

Double updated - quiet.

Andy is moving troops into Pnohm Penh and I'm re-organizing our troop dispositions.
Will make a new line East of Saigon and Bien Ho. There's a river here and the enemy have to
follow the road to Saigon one way or the other. This is another city with lots of forts.

Producing more Zeke Fighter bombers - got a lot of depleted Daitais and only 30 ac arriving each months.
Stacking up Oscar IIs and Zekes to fill out all Sentai/Daitais.

Home Islands are now bustling with troops and machines. Supplies are plentiful and I'm moving excess
to surrounding bases to stock them up before an eventual invasion. Planning 50k on each of the Okinawa islands.

We are producing some 200 Reppu's pr month, if we're lucky we can accelereate its production another month and get
it in May. What I will do is to upgrade all A6M5 Zeke's to A6M8's and then upgrade these to Reppus. Doesn't matter
if this happens in May or June, all 600 A6M5s produced pr month will auto convert to A6M8s and enable a quick update.

How good is the Reppu compared to Hellcat and Corsairs?

Kratie falls to enemy troops. Most of our combat ready troops had already moved towards Bien Ho.
Andy will have to decide whether to proceed in one or two prongs.

Moving an Area Army to Camranh Bay with a 5 hex radius. The China Command HQ will also move
to Hanoi and provide support with its 9 hex range. See map for more details.

There are now 100 barges shuttling between the Bonins and Home Islands.
Should be able to bring in supplies without risking more ships.

Naval bomber units are slowly filling up again, give me another month and we will have more than 8000 ac ready
for action.

Ground Combat

Our remnants at Phnom Penh were routed again. Thanx to the not so perfect ground combat model
all these troops retreated to Kompong Kratie were they are now surrounded and will be destroyed.
Not being able to decide retreat routes when there are multiple possibilities lead to stupid and unnecessary
situations like this.

Eenmy troops are now strung out and not in a position to assault Bien Ho or Saigon immediately, which is good.
9 forts in both of these bases and our position will be fairly strong.
