I came across a strange effect while marching through alabama in the most recent beta patched to the most recent patch.

playing the usa in late 62 I had captured alabama's capital and garrisoned it. My army moved off after leaving a small 2 brigate garrison with a 2 star general. The csa then beseiged it and immediatedly gave me a loss of two on my national strength. the funny thing was that my garrison was still in being and not very weakend.
I might have an old autosave of it but didn't think to name it at the time.

By the way what benefit does the south get as a computer player get. Even blocking six ports they seem to have a great deal of manpower and brigades. Its not easy to deal with them even on corporal and +2 power. my last two games at sergeant and plus two power I got heavily outfaught. Perhaps the slow combat gives an advantage to experienced players?

Your not making the same mistake that I did and playing on the "Standard" scenario are you? This is very not standard and dates back to the first pre-patch version and is HEAVILY biased towards the south. Try Southern Steel much more historical.

Thanks for the advice I think I'll give that scenario a try.
