Right....maybe I should ask Joe W. about the figures!

Looking forward to the Reppu AND the Shinden
Then it's payback time!

Some results today, we managed to hit several cve's, but the small enemy CAP is still enough to
shred dozens of our ac *grumble*

The enemy convoys heading towards Formosa have turned around
Why did they go there in the first place? Just don't get it <G>

I'm struggling to release more LCU. There are so many islands that have to be defended that it's
a major pain to release enough units for them all. This small island just south of Kobe for example, part
of the Home Islands but impossible to move troops there, have to release them first.

I'm pondering whether I should withdraw the crack division at Truk, 99/99 and at 100% efficiency.
Andy is not going to invade, and if he does it doesn't matter much anyway. Could replace it with a few
smaller LCUs.

What do you think guys? Time to shrink the perimeter even further?
Got a lot of base units in the Marianas and Palaus, 250 pr island. Could need them in the Home Islands, PI and Formosa.
Think these are more likely to be attacked.

Got 1600 PP, when I get another 1600 I'll release a crack div from China and send it 'Home'.
The Mongol HQ is stuck in Japan, can't be loaded onto ships <G> Why don't these units arrive in Mongol land to begin with...

good job with those CVEs...! As for relasing crack division from Truk - do it! Even if you leave Truk undefended (well almost undefended) it will take a time until Andy realises that and send troops there - anyway this would require additional troops and that would mean weakening his edge! What kind use of Truk can you found? (except for Tokyo Rose propaganda speaches i couldn't find another)

This late in the war he is going to have to be very daring to get a "win".. assuming he wants one.  Places like Truk arent even going to enter his thought process..

Can I ask whats the average exp. level of your Betty crews? Your hits seem.. few and far between with them..

Can't answer for Pzb, but I know my situation. I had many high exp Betty's going into 44. Would have shredded any un-cap'ed convoy; and in fact did take down a lot of merchies as my opponent went for Wake and Iwo. However, the problem is the tendency for 3 or 5 or 20 Betty's to periodically decide to take off against the Allied Death Star with no escort, with the inevitable results. Even with conservative leaders. So, over time, all the good pilots self-destruct.

I have to concur. This late in the game Truk will not be in TOP 10 targets for allies.

As for Betties, they have been shredded by the enemy Uber CAP so many times that it's only the top 4-8 pilots in a Daitai
that are crack. The rest have been 'dry trained' up to between 50-65 exp and seldom score hits on agile targets. Quite often the high end pilots stay home as well....
So the mediocre naval bomber units are more useful against un-escorted convoys. There are lots of them fortunately.

Agree with Truk, will send in a South Seas Detachment instead.
Actually, just airlifted out an Area Army HQ and a Bde from Hansa from Truk

Also got a large 99/99 division at Menando. Also has to be airlifted out. Morale in this div is low though.
Another crack div is enroute to the Home Islands after spending 2 years in malaria zone. Been extracted by Topsy and cargo ship, took 2 months.
Morale is 7....requires 2 months of R&R in Geisha Clubs

The plan is to send the huge crack divisions to important bases and keep the smaller units in reserve.
Can airlift or ship them in when needed.

Didn't think I could String, can try again but I'm sure I've tried it before with little luck.
Hokaido is connected though. There is also a couple of smaller islands on the west coast, then you got the Bonins,
Okinawas, Sakhalin and all the small Paramushiro type islands. All these islands require LCU's that are not connected to
the Home Islands. This is a pain as I got so many units already in the PI, Formosa, Palaus, Marianas etc.

If I have 6-700 AP and 9 forts in all these bases it should be possible to bring reserves quickly enough to prevent Andy from capturing them.
Good thing Andy has pulled back his subs, been transports running shuttle all over the Central Pac over the last few months

Thx Tally Ho! Didn't even notice it. Sake for all!

2 enemy cve's were reported sunk today More Sake for all

Hue fell today and this was the end of the Allied Amphibious operation in the area.
Only enemy LCT/LST were left south of Hue and they were pounded to dust.

The enemy carriers withdrew and the Taiho ended up 5 hexes from the enemy without being
spotted. She's going to race SW and try to intercept the stragglers. The short range Zeke FBs have
been exchanged for a crack Daitai TBDs.

Most air groups in the area are now being withdrawn to the Home Islands.
They have to rest and prepare for Andy's next big operation.

However, we will attempt to destroy as many of his retreating ships in the South China Sea as we can.

In China the borders against Indo China will be heavily garrisoned and 3 of our 4 training camps are
re-loacting to Peking and bases bordering to Manchukuo. There's a chinese army in one of the hexes up there
that will be targetted until the Soviets enter the war. Then we will train on their bases

Kyushu is now within extreme range of enemy B-29s from Hue (23-24 hexes). Only Nagasaki is a worthwhile target
and I'm moving in loads of aviation support. There will be 100 night fighters and 3-400 interceptors on CAP there
by the time Hue reaches size 5. Afraid Nagasaki will receive a nuke again....

21+ hexes is extended range for B-29s so Andy will need a size 7 A/F to reach Kyushu.
Whats the max size the Hue can go? (I don't have stock WITP loaded on my new PC)

It's currently a size 1(5) base and can be expanded to max size 8.....
So I'm going to need a heavy shield over Nagasaki!

Our re-location efforts in China is fully under way. Less and less ac will be left in the area to
face the Allied LBA torrent. It's time to pull back into the Inner Defensive Perimeter.

We got another cve and de today as well as more minor crafts.
Didn't need the Taiho after all.

Will continue to shoot enemy targets in the South China Sea, but this campaign is coming to
an end. Unfortunately we couldn't nail the carrier Wasp but half a dozen escort carriers have been
sunk and more damaged.

Ok, I assume Andy's next big operation will come sometime in May. Usually quiet before the storm.
I've pulled lots of air groups from the PI's and sent them to the Home Islands. Don't want to see them
flattened by massive B-29 raid against Manila and Clark.

Enemy bombers hit Home Islands! - 6/2/2007 2:16:14 AM

Imperial Air HQ has been called to the Emperor to explain how it was possible for enemy bombers
to hit the Home Islands!! Obviously the enemy Superfortress had a longer extended range than expected.

Hadodate was hit by a small strike force of 12 B-29s that slightly damaged an ac research factory.
Tokyo was first raided by 69 Corsairs which shot down 71 of our CAP fighters for a loss 15 Corsairs (1 to op losses).
117 Superforts from Wake Island hit 2 aircraft factories and Dinah III and Grace outputs were damaged as well as a research facility. 18 Superforts were destroyed.

Our own fighter units lost relatively few pilots, but only 15% of Tokyo's combined fighter force was on CAP as it was
expected that enemy B-29's had an extended range of 24 hexes. The use of miles in the intelligence screen has put me of
a dozen times before, why Matrix doesn't use hexes is a mystery for me.

Well, damage was relatively slight and we now know that the enemy can hit Central, Eastern and Western parts of the Home Islands.
I've ordered a step up of evacuation of base force units from the outer perimeter bases and 1500 fighters have been put on CAP
in the Home Islands. Osaka/Kobe is one of the few 'safe spots' when Hue becomes operational for B-29s.

I assume that the enemy carrier TF sprinted from Marcus Island towards Tokyo, no previous spottings were made and no anti
shipping strikes were ordered by the enemy. I have ordered several kamikaze units on naval attack escorted by Oscar IIs.
Don't want to burn our strike ac against an enemy Uber CAP. The Corsairs are still all powerful - but that is NOT going to last.
Give me 3 more months and we'll be producing 500 Shinden pr month.

My fears conserning Attu and Kiska has been reinforced. Will attempt to bombard the B-29 airstripes there and increase defenses
of Northern Area Army Command.

More worry in the North and there is still some exchange of fire in the South China Sea
and several enemy transports and escorts are hit.

Been to a airshow at Sola Airport in Stavanger today, 70 year Anniversary!
Climbed into the cockpit of an F-16...oh what helluva kick that would have been!

Later on 2 F-16's and 3 F-5 Tigers simulated attacks on the airfield.
Wonder what the KLM flight taking of thought

The sound of the F-16s was tremendous and I really liked to hear the gatling guns firing blancs!
Still, the 1943 vintage P-51 Mustang 'Old Crow' was a wonderful sight!

A flying Catalina, Vampire and an airshow by the Patrouille Suisse in their 5 F-5's were other high lights!
