Hi MattyB,

1. It depends on whether an alternate landing base can be found by the returning aircraft. You can see this by going to the report screen, and then selecting "squadrons". Select the squadron you want to view, and you will get a report of the planes in that squadron, and they will either report as being killed because no alternate base was found, or that they were able to find a base to land. Any planes that land at an alternate base will either go into the reserve pool of a squadron if there is a squadron with the same plane type, or just be retired (giving no vp's to the enemy).

2. There is a chance that CAP will shoot down an enemy searchplane that is shadowing a taskgroup. Again, the squadron section of the report screen will detail any of your planes shot down by cap (though you cant review enemy searchplanes shot down).

3. If you mean to search, then no, you cant direct the exact hexes to search. If you mean to launch a strike, then yes, you can perform a search and strike mission. To do this, you place an artificial sighting anywhere on the map (which you can do from the sightings screen), then launch a strike at the artificial sighting like you would do a normal sighting.

Regards
Alex

About the CAP, I do not see any report of my CAP intercepting & destroying any enemy attacking planes when an air raid comes to me. Is this normal ?

It would also be pretty to have a small animation of that CAP combat, just to enhance the fact that they are doing something. Here, as I see it, it seems that the CAP does nothing.

CAP casualties are denoted by a crosshairs symbol over the plane icon in the bottom right of the strike screen.

I thought these were AA casualties, as this screen is displayed within the attack animation.

AA KIA's are noted by an explosion icon, AA damage is noted as either yellow or red squares in terms of severity (and a damaged plane will abort its mission)

No, CAP is always centralised above its base (be it carrier or landbase). It does have a range of up to 3 hexes though, depending upon conditions (weather, pilot skill etc).
