AGC/Amphib Force Question - 6/12/2007 4:27:34 AM

I know some time back it was stated that an Amphibious Force onboard an AGC only needs to be in the same hex to reduce off-loading casualties. Has anyone confirmed this via testing? How certain are we that it doesn't have to be in the actual Task Force?

(Someday I'll be able to turn my brain off. But it obviously isn't today.)

The Amphibious Force is supposed to stay on the AGC during the invasion...

If the AGC is in the same TF as your landing force - then it will unload as well - this is a bad thing.

Irrespective of the TF it is in, does the Amph Force HQ have to be prepped for the correct target for the bonus to count ???? or is it's presence in the hex enough ????

I'm starting to have a flashback to trying to get an answer out of Frag. Working when? When in the same hex? Or when in the same TF?

Doesn't have anything to do with what I asked, but nice to know.

you missed the part about "Appears to be working"[period ending sentence] Also (as in "additionally") saw the adjustment to the AV level.

In other words, It helped reduce casualties on landing and adjusted the final AV when attacking. Take or discard as you see fit.

Hi, I have mine in a well protected transport TF set to do not unload following the main amphibious TF(s). The Amph HQ is also prepped to 100 and while I've never tested it the out come sure seems to lesson casualties.

I have two AGC's in action (with HQ force), and have preformed 3 different landings. The first landing with over a division landed against opposition and the units suffered very little disruption and attacked well the day of the landing so it did work.

The other two landings, where not as significant as to the opposition so I could not tell if the AGC helped or not, again disruption was lower then a normal landing.

To work, I have the AGC set with a DD as escort, and do not unload. They are in the same hex, but seperated TF.

I believe it does if you take it with the above statement that it can't be in the same TF unless it also unloads with the invasion. There is no way that I know of to have some ships unload in a TF and some not.

I haven't run an isolated test, but in games with the AI, got far better results with the amphib HQ on an AGC in the hex, but in a seperate TF.

I was not assuming that because one programmer wrote code to require the AmphibForce to be on an AGC to give the bonus, another programmer did not write code to require it to be in the same TF.

However, people have now indicated that they appear to have gotten the benefit from it just being in the same hex.  So the answer is "as far as anyone can tell", which is the best I expected.

from my experience it appears that AGC/Amphib Force HQ does lessen the amount of disruption...whether its in the same TF or not.

also if the AGC is in the same TF as the invasion forces...i've never seen it unload on an enemy beach....

you don't want the AGC in an invasion TF anyway because the game doesn't like unloading the HQ onto the target beach. I had a devil of a time getting it to unload after i took the base and it ended up splitting into two parts with the name suffix changing or corrupting.

A supplimentary question.

The force HQ has a larger load capacity than an AGC, yet it all fits in.
do players :
1. load HQ into a single AGC ? or
2. split across 2 AGCs (in same TF separate from assualt forces of course)

one Amphib HQ is designed to load onto one AGC.
