I would be interested in knowing what are "average" losses for a PBEM game? Here are the results of my own game (I am japanese player). How do they compare with the experiences of others? Are they high or average losses?

Game date: 3/16/43

Aircraft losses:
Allied: 8349
Japanese: 10004

Ship losses:
Allied: 486 ships sunk, worth 7031 points (4 CV, 8 BB/BC)
Japanese: 197 ships sunk, worth 1906 points (1 CV, 1 BB)

Ground losses:
Allied: 16950
Japanese: 3935

Total score:
Allied: 18971
Japanese: 40151

Here is my score on 31 March 1943 in my AAR Bloody Pacific. I should say this is my most successfull PBEM so far

Game date: 3/31/43

Aircraft losses:
Allied: 8 859
Japanese: 4 162

Ship losses
Allied: 454 ships sunk for 7 335 (6 CV, 8 BB)
Japanese: 128 ships sunk for 1 180 (1 BB)

Ground losses
Allied: 19 914
Japanese: 887

Total score:
Allied: 7 463
Japanese: 51 349

AFAIK your ship and AC losses are about the normal level for PBEM where Japan knew no Midway-like disaster in 1942, but your ground losses are significantly high. What happened ?

You're doing better than me (Allies) vs. Erstad.

It's May-43 I think (so comperable to your game).  Score is about 2.8:1 vps.  Not sure the exact score.  I've probably got about 12k, he's got probably 34k.  Maybe more, maybe less.  Something like that.

I've got two other games in 09-42, and the ratios are about 2.2:1 and 1.5:1 (I'm doing much better).

I've got a new game vs. Bilbow, it's 12-12-42, and I intend to get an auto-victory as Allies in 1942...  (just kidding).

Here's my Info screen as Allies.
The date is Sept '43.

My current opponent picked up the game in Feb '43. Most of the ship losses had already taken place.

Not bad for a first!

How did you manage to loose so many ships and planes in the first months of war?

Ships: took Hawaii, CD works so Ive lost some APs and AKs there. In addition LOTS of AGs, PCs PGs MSW etc. Nothing serious. This number tells nothing. In the matter of fact USN lost several times more CA, CL, DDs etc than IJN. So in reality they are well beaten.

Planes: don not care much about planes. I can produce more than I will ever need.
Large operational loses thanks to unfamiliarity with AGs overstacking rules early in the game.

Here is where I was on 01-01-43:

I held all of China except Chungking and all of India except Karachi (which was returned as per house rules)

Right. But it still means lots of VPs and pilots lost.
Unlike planes pilots are not so easy to come by

PH is not taken. quite.

I do conserve good pilots. helpless teenagers out of elementary schools have to do some dirty job some times. For the Emperor You know....Ive run whole war up to now with ONLY zeroes and 3 sqdrs of Oscars. Only. Ive acheived what I wanted and I still have several hundreds of 80 exp Nate pilots waiting for a better plane. It almost worked. Zero bonus is over, Tojos arrived.

Edit: VPs - dont play for them.

It consisted of all of SEAC and most of China. The losses went up to 24K after Chungking was taken. Let's see how many I get when I invade Russia.

I believe Chungking should not be attacked

I know it's fun (as Japan) , but it really doesn't make much sense.
It could have never happened.

I'm not sure I have a house rule in my game as Japan. Reardless I won't move on Chungking once Changsha falls. That's the end of my advance in China.

I feel it alters the game too much. china must remain as a burden/threat for Japan to carry throughout the game.

It's not a critic! Just a personal evaluation. I simply don't like to see China out of the game, whether I'm Allies or Japan.

Anyway ... Well done!!!!

It took 2 years of seige and a lot of blood and treasure to do it. In the end I hope it will delay the eventual desctruction of my empire by a few extra months.

Here's my situation. Game v. Raver, PDU off, blah, blah, the info is in the AAR. A very soothing experiance for me thus far[
Note on the Soviets: they were activated from day 1 as per house rule but can fight only if Japan attacks first.

Sorry about the tiny pic...I don't know how to enlarge it...

What I wanna know is - Where does it show total ground losses? like ground soldier casualties...i see army points but it only says 2,600 for me and i know ive lost ALOT more soldiers than that. I've lost at least a million troops

doesn't show it specific causality numbers for ground troops, only represents them as points....

this is because different troops are worth different amounts. For instance Chinese troops are worth **** compared to American troops.

major Allied campaigns so far:

1942/43 recapture of the Aleuts  ( everything West of Atka was in Japanese hands )
1943 Baker Island and the Gilberts
1944 Marshall Islands ( except a few bases like Ponape and Eniwetok - but those are under siege )

1942/43/44 Aussie campaign to retake Timor and later they went on to Sorong, Amboina and Morotai ( with many smaller bases )

1943 recapture of Akyab

Actually, there's

Lexington and Lexinton...
Saratoga and Saratoga...
and
Enterprise and Enterprise...

Ouch. I won't snicker tho, Erstad may well just hand me my butt as well. I've only sunk CVE Taiyo in that game as well (for loss of 4 CVs + 2x RN CVs).
