I am very tempted to get this, but I've just recently bought Carriers at War and Campaign Series and also have asked for Silent Hunter IV for Fathers Day from the kids...so I think I'll hold off for the time being and see what people think...

I do want it though, 'cos it looks (and apparently isn't a million miles away) from the Panzer General series which I loved and was my intro to wargaming proper.

no kidding, caw, GGwaw ads, taow3, Making History and now CEAW. and I may say so this is a incredible game.. and thats solitaire! imagine two player! I was somewhat scetpical at first.. although it looks nice.. but the ease of play and the challenge to build uot the right forces, researc hteh correct formula and hit them where they are not is not going away soon. This is a truly fine product.

It is just a neccessary purchase...remember the times when there was nothing new to buy when your grabbing your credit card. Panzer General was my life...i was truly addicted. Between that and XCOM:UFO i never had a want for anything in life...and no kids to feed...oh the simple days. This is UBER PANZER GENERAL...your gonna have to buy it...you know you are.

tell me about it, i just bought campaign series, then carriers at war, and now commander europe at war.  But ceaw is a nice game i like it.  Does anybody know how to get the game to stay in windowed mode always?  Everytime I restart it goes full screen, i even fiddled with the settings text file and no go.

thanks

I feel for you Judge I really do, bloody Matrix releasing all these games,I had to make a choice this or the  John Tiller Campaign games. As I am playing SP:WAW for my tactical fix I went for this, wife wanted some new rings so I had a the go ahead, so you pity me for missing out on the Campaign game, and I'll pity you for missing out on this (for the time being in both cases, it will be mine!!).

We don't have kids (yet), maybe I could get a father's day gift from our two mutts (seeing as my wife does the mummy/daddy thing with the dogs)

And the bugger is going to be close to £40...which really puts a bummer on the deal. Not saying it's not worth it...just that I could "justify" it to myself if it was sub  £30!

Panzer General, Eastern Front and Battle Isle were among my favourite games back in the mid 90's and i am hugely excited by what people have said so far about this game. Ive been watching it for a few months now but wanted to wait and see peoples impressions before i took the plunge. It does indeed look like my kinda game.

I will be purchasing this one as soon as i get paid. Oh the horror of broken cars and women. I have better things to spend my money on!

Judge, its really good. I'm kinda blah about CAW, which I also purchased, bit Commander: Eaw is very very nice. It is kinda like Strategic Command 2, only with AI and troop statistics that actually MEAN something. Russia is a bear (no pun intended). The AI is very decent, not a human opponent, of course, but nicely defensive (although I feel that I successfully pulled of a Sealion a bit too easily. It has this addictive "one more turn" quality that just killed my plans to study Latin early in the day.

What's this Tiller game like? I'm curious, but the graphics look rough and I have no idea how it plays.

What I mean is that the game plays very similarly to SC2, but that the AI is superior (the SC2 AI is well known to be nearly idiotic) and the benefits that research, morale, and supply give to one's units is much more evident in C:EaW than in SC2.

Sorry, hope that clears things up.

Don't buy it Judge...save yourself! I can't stop playing, i wanted to go back to CAW, i wanted to read a couple chapters of Carrier Battles:Command Decision in harm's way, i wanted to play B-Ball with my son......save yorself! It's too fun...it's addicitve...oh the humanity!
Oh, and it's so cool when you do research and upgrade your units and the graphic changes...chasing convoys around with my wolfpack while i research upgrade my airpower to invade England, yes England...i'm on my way Judge. I'll be driving up to your house in my Kubelwagen to interrogate the Mrs. onto why ONE MORE GAME is going to be the end all-be all.

Ah, the key word here is "accidentally" Not sure if it will hold up, though.

This has to be one of the funniest things I have read in a long time. HellPatrol, you are making me want to purchase this baby right away. I also just bought John Tillers Campaign series last night so getting proper requisition forms from HQ might be a bit tough, if you know what I mean.

So many new games, so little time.

Well look at it this way, we are all suffering together. It sucks when i have a couple awesome games purchased at the same time...i get all flustered and irritable...I'm right in the middle of Midway(pun intended) and yet i am SO CLOSE to Moscow yet i am almost done with my Cross Of Iron campaign...and "what? schools out? Yeah, whatever...can't you see i'm thinking here?! Call me in September!"

I would have hopped all over this game a month ago, but I just ordered AGEOD ACW and Guns of August will be out in a few weeks. Maybe in the Fall I will get around to it since it is getting alot of good word.
