I have no enough planes to attack an airfield in day time (it has many zeros cap), so I am planning a surprise night attack. Can any allied players tell me about:

1. is the night attack with B17s effective?
2. If I don't have enough 4engines, will the attack with some 2e LBs be successful?

thank you for any comments

The AC need to have 70+ exp and still will not hit much. Use lots of the if you want to have any effect and expect high Ops losses

Probably more successful than it should be for attacking an airbase.

As far as the two engined bombers, the more the merrier.

If you don't have enough planes to attack in daylight, you probably do not have enough to do any lasting damage at night either.  The best you can hope for will be to kill a few of his planes on the ground.  As allies, if you kill as many on the ground as you loose in ops losses, you are winning....you get some many more planes than the Japanese and attritions works for the allies.

Thanks
It sounds the night mission is tougher than what I expected. My original thinking is night attack can avoid zeros cap. I think it is still worthwhile to have a try.

As the allies, it is worth trying it once or twice to see what kind of damage you can do.

As a Japanese player, I am thoroughly frustrated when the Allied player night bombs my airfields (before I get night fighters).  The results are minor, but it does increase their experience.  After Japanese night fighters arrive, things aren't much better, but at least they shoot down the odd Allied plane.

Wow, it seems that the experience is the most important?
Or because B29 appearing later in the game is too powerful?

Yepper, EXP is the name of the game for ANY A/c.

Find a nice little spot and train the heck out of them. Will take a while, but once the upgrades start to come from the crap the Allies have to start with, the trained units will crush Japan.

Better to train them now in a safe place, while the planes are crap, then have to wait later to train when it counts.
