Well, i was hoping it wouldnt happen but it did CRASHTIME. May 13 1943 DCG center barbarossa german tank battalion turn 16 of 16. the game locks and the contact microsoft request arrives. It really doesent suprise me, seeing i had posted earlier that the name in my commanders box was slowly moving left, and in east front 2 once it reached all the way to the left, the game would lock and the whole campaign would be lost. It is a bitter pill to swallow seeing how i'm about 40 or so missions in. I hate to sound like sour friggin grapes but its just depressing seeing how jasons allready said nothing will be addresed in any forseeable patch for the DCG's ( including the AT/assult guns at 1 strength glitch). I should have just stuck with East Front 2 on my Win98 machine. WAAAAAAAA
No love for the DCG players

I guess you missed this?

Have you tried to open up your campaign org to see if there are spaces beside the commanders name that you can manually delete?

Listen I'm not a computer guy i dont even know what a campaign org is. I feel like king hacker when i defragment my hardrive. I'm sorry for being a pain, but i just want to click on east front on the main menu and have it work. Can you explain for me to how to stop my commanders name from slowly shifting left, and i will name my second born after you. Because like i said earlier once the name reaches far left the game crashes and the whole campaign is lost... Semper FI
P.S. Thanks Jason, or whoever can help me

Not sure how to fix that, really. But, can you send me all of your campaign files and I will take a look at the files and see if I can see the culprit.. or at least a temporary method of fixing it. Go to your East Front folder, View the folder by Details, Sort them by date and select all the files with the most recent date that you would have played your campaign. You can send them to jasonpetho (at) hotmail (dot) com.

I am trying to fix the Dynamic Campaigns and think I have succeeded in doing so and now I am creating the Panzer elements so people can play with a Panzer Battalion... it's a huge undertaking and will take some time, but I hope to have something ready for the coming update.

*laughs* Not intended to be a wiseass.. helps prevent the email address from being fished and bombarded with spam.

Mmm.. spam.

I used to experience this bug as well and was one of the reasons I stopped playing the old Talonsoft version.  The files would suddenly be "corrupted" and that was that.  I hoped it had been fixed but I'm not far enough into a campaign yet to tell.  Sad to hear it still lingers.

Well, I am not sure if it is a fix.. we can hope, just give it a whirl and see what happens. This might take a few attempts.

well jay, Unfornatly it dident work, and brig. general Kratzert has gone to little freakin nazi heaven. I tried replacing the old file with the new one, but it came up cannot generate battle file and does not even allow me onto a playable screen now. Oh well we tried, and we will get this sooner or later. I think i'm going to try out my first LCG now, its long since overdue. Sorry about the (should of stuck with east front 2) comment... See ya around Semper Fi

This problem encountered by paulsalayko involved the leader being deleted by the program during an upgrade in April 43 for the regiment. The leader was just deleted by the upgrade. I was able to go back and recreate the circumstances on the game and the same thing happened to mine.

I was able to partially restore paulsalayko back so he could continue with the campaign by manually inserting the leader back into the ccd file. he will have lost his rank but better to go on than not at all.

This problem is going to occur anytime in east front for any of the barbarossa dynamic ccmpaigns when the date hits April 1943. From other posts I assume that this is a carryover problem.

Regards

Bill

Thanks Bill.

Hmm, this opens up a whole new can of worms. Good to know though, back to the drawing board for the DCG update.

I believe the Barborossa campaigns to be cursed. But for some reason i cant stay away from them, its like cake to a fat kid. I know theres so much more content to play, west front,d-day,africa, and of course rising sun and the marines island hopping. Hell i was a Marine, but for some strange reason i always end up with Barbarossa. Thanks to Bill and Jason for finding this problem, as sad as it may sound i have never finished a east front campaign since 1998. Hell, ive never hit 1944. Best of luck on the fix, and of course as always Semper Fi...
