I'm planning to buy Carriers at War, but If is similar to war plan orange, I have a serious problem. I have Plan Orange game, but his complexity kills me, I'm not capacited to control all the war in the Pacific, so want to ask If:

1-Exist a step by step guide to control the game

and specially

2-If is possible to have or design very very limited scenarios like take a small island or limited campaigns that not involve all the war production and control, I will really apreciate to control only 2 or 3 task forces, with only 1 or 2 objectives

Thank's

1-Exist a step by step guide to control the game

Game has a 19 step tutorial which shows (text & arrows on screen) how to perform basic functions.

The game's scenarios are very close to what you're asking for here. Some scenarios have more than 3 TG's but they often tend to be small (and assigned a limited mission in the scenario).

The scenario editor also allows you to build any custom scenario you're interested in. You can size the map, number of TG's, and missions.

Worry not, other than the subject matter CaW is nothing like WitP or WPO. The inbuilt tutorial will have you sinking and being sunk in half-an-hour; I don't think I've even looked at the manual yet! It's rare for a scenario to take more than an hour to play, and there's no production etc to worry about.

Excellent!!

looks a lot more agile that WPO or WITP, is true?
Have some questions

1-How is the combat simulated? Real time?

2-Is possible to have surface action naval combat? Possible to create TF without carriers? You know tranposts to invade island, or BB to bombard enemy bases

3-The game include pre-1941 ships and planes? Until which year?

4-And last, it seems moddable, is possible to add new ships and planes for a early 30's scenarios??

Thank's for the info!

Why yes, you can add early 1930s ships and planes; I've added P-26 Peashooters, and RANGER as she was in the 1930s.

1.  Yes... game runs in continous time.  You have game clock settings of 0-9, with 9 being the fastest.  Game runs on a 24 hour clock.   Combat takes place down to the appropriate minute.

2.  Yes, Yes, & Yes.   Many scenarios in the game have TF's without carriers.  Additionally there are land bases where air missions can be flown from...

Hi Stratos,

The game is available here at Matrix' online store. Just click on the word "Store" (in orange) at the top of the page to go there and order.

To clarify, you cannot do anything with TFs during the game like merging, disbanding, or creating during a scenario.

Relatively small ~150 megs.

Buy it Stratos, it is a good game, it will give you a run for your money and its looks like it's on the verge of getting better.

Cheers,
Adam.
