I'm playing a BTR Luftwaffe '43 campaign, and need to know arrival dates for:

Ta 152
FW 190D
Me 262
Do 335

Other arrival dates would be nice for the thread, but not really necessary for my purposes.

I saw this years ago on the old EZBoard, but can't find it, and it's not on this board.

Also: I remember someone taking the initiative and developed good factory icons for BTR. They gave clarity to an otherwise sea of generic factories. Does anyone still have those? Please send the file to zbhughes ---at--- yahoo ---dot--- com

Also would like to have latest "approved for public release" oob files for BTR.

Thanks in advance!!!

Ta 152 and Do335 wont show up (at least historically) until late march-april 45. Langnase Dora /190D/ is may/june 44 IIRC like Me262

That is a real shame, that board is pretty much dead, it was a great board and a great group of people who seemed to live there all the time

lets see, some starting dates from the Old BTR

109 K 9-44
190 D 9-44
262    6-44
152    1-45
335    2-45
162    3-45

now remember that is the base starting date, with some reseach, you can get the starting date to move ahead

Er, I could find the EZBoard website for BTR, but I couldn't find the thread for the arrival dates (thanks HARD Sarge for the recent post). Perhaps it was on JCL's OLD prodigy website. I'm showing my age here, I know. I've been an avid reader of the website, but haven't really posted much. I've read plenty of Harley and HARD Sarge posts from years gone back, even posted a couple of requests (auto plot night interceptors was one, it made it to the med, but never made it to fighter command...)

I would like to add my insight to the recon mechanics, but I'm still working it up in my head. I should have wrote it up years ago, since it might have made it on the latest edition.

OK, so just for sake of the board, 100 pre-production (research) Luftwaffe aircraft equals one month the researched a/c moves forward towards operational production.

Item: HC31106 - Boeing B-17 F-27-BO- "Knockout Dropper" 359th BS/303rd BG "Hells Angels"

In response to HARD Sarge's email with the ICON attachment:

No, mate, those aren't the ones.  I think they were the first ones to come out, as I remember JCL went nuts over them.  (Almost like he meant to get around to doing the same thing, but was overcome with other priorities)  Every icon on the zoom out sheet had it's own unique icon for it's industry.  I used to save everything in a Patches and Programs folder.  That was years ago, and I've gone through several computers since.  Along the way, the folder was lost.

The difference the icons made was like night and day.  I remeber thinking "How did I ever play the game before these?"

Kfosso and andrei both made icon sets. I'm not sure that I kept any other than the defaults...

right, those are the ones I remember, I think I kept the Andrei ones

I don't remember one that changed the zoomed out Factory Icons

(yea, I lost a lot of old files with the puter changes over the years)

anybody remember the HARD Sarge view of the 2nd World War OOB, all of the stats for the LW were dropped to 20 Mrv and 20 Dur, the bad part is the LW did better :)

I got one more place I can look, but I not sure if I would of keep zip files in that area

von Shagmeister,

By Crom's bloody blade, I think you've found them! Please send them to zbhughes ---at--- yahoo ---dot--- com. Trust me people, if you play BTR often, and you haven't tried these icons, you're gonna want them.

On a different note, I was digging through old stuff looking for a backup disk for the icons. I ended up finding an old PC game, B-17 Flying Fortress the Mighty Eighth by Microprose. I installed it, and it runs fine, with just a little sound clicking. It is a very detailed flight sim (like all Microprose products) that allows you to man all ten Fortress positions, fly Allied P47s, P-38s and P-51s, and Axis 109s 190sand 262s. There is a squadron commander campaign mode, and I think you can get promoted to BG commander. I've got all the documentation, luckily, since there's no way anyone could play it without it. Anyone else out there played/playing this game?

is the first one or the 2nd one ?

that used to be a royal bear of a game, if it took 6 hours to fly to Berlin, a mission to Berlin could take 12 hours to play out (if you didn't speed up the game, but speeding up the game, got the Nav lost)

I was always getting lots of medals to hand out and being told I was going to be busted if I didn't hit the right target

the Art was something in the game, you hit a target and turn for home, and smoke from the target would climb to 20 K or so

(I don't remember being able to fly the fighters, so it may not be the same game)

the nose art and stuff looks the same though ?

Hard Sarge,
I believe you are recalling the original B-17 Bomber game. I played that waaaaay back in the early days when 286 and 386 reigned supreme. I spent many saturday afternoons doing the Berlin drop. Yeah was a great game. You could not fly anything but the bombers. Had blast trying to get my damaged aircraft back on many missions. Wish those fire extinguishers had more in them... Lost a lot of aircraft due to fires I could not put out. I still have it I think on one of my older machines. Would like to get the new one. Wonder if it is so old that it is a free download now?

Later,
KayBay

okay, that may be it, I had the 2nd one also, but may not of gotten as interested in it (I thinking, it was one of those, that if you lost your plane, you just popped into another one, which ruins the idea to me)

The stock version of this game was very buggy, you could not play it. And while the US version was fixed as I recall, there never was a patch for the german version so I stopped playing it rather soon. On top of that, the original versoin was never availible in germany.

I have always put "Mighty 8th" in the top tier of WWII Flight Sims. With the realistic settings on, it is simply a beast to survive. Also, the Me-262, P-47, 109 etc have some mind blowing Cockpits in extreme detail. I actually learned how (a 30-step process, or so) to get the engines started on a B-17, it is a beast at times, (Dead Reckoning, Norden Bombsight and all), but it is a Classic Sim!!

I thought Shockwave was reviving/updating "B-17"?

This is the icon set I use. Got it from JC's old forum. Made by Andrei perhaps ?

Uses symbols for what is produced rather than pics of rather similar looking factories.

Actually, Mighty Eighth was pretty cool. Played it quite a lot, and I also still have the documentation somewhere...

File sent as requested.

The attachment here is a .jpg They need to be a .bmp format

Incidently, although labelled "build0" they can also replace the "build1" set as well, allowing them to be used on the next zoomed in map level.

regards Otis
