Certainly this must already have been asked for, but can we see air units given the ability to divide and to disband?

Never could understand why air units don't have these abilities. I've had to resort to creating explicit 'detachment' air units and using 'disband/withdraw unit' events to simulate this all too common behavior - I'd prefer if the player had more control.

Some scenarios do have a problem with having too few large air units- particularly fighters- for the map and ground unit scale.. Mind you, this could be resolved with better design.

FitE has the air units broken out by Squadrons. Could we do it that way?

..like more airfields to cope with the arbitary 3 air-unit limit ?..

Well, there are three concerns here;

a) for flexibility, have air units as small as possible
b) to keep a historical OOB whilst separating types, have units as small as possible
c) for simplicity and easy of play, have as few units as possible.

So there's no right answer. However, if you've got a 250 hex front and fighter units with a range of 25, it stands to reason that you'd want to have at least a dozen of them to ensure good cover.
