Hello all,

first of all i´d like to tell you that i´am from Germany, so my english may not be the best :)

2 days ago i started a pbem game of the great 1914-1918 scenario. Yesterday i (central powers) finished my 2nd turn and sent the save to my "enemy".

Today i received an email from him, he complained about some graphic problems but he was able to finish his turn. So i loaded the save but now i have a problem too, my hole army is inactiv and the attack and defence values of my units and of the units of the Entente are raised to 99 / 99.

Also the "news window" showed the message that the War of 1914-1919 ended, that´s strange, because i wasn´t able to take Paris in my 2nd turn :D

Did anyone experience the same problems? Any suggestions? (A restart of the scenario would be a possible alternative, but if this problem is not fixed it could occur again)

What patch level are you and your partner using?

Which scenario, exactly, is it? One that shipped with TOAW III?

Can you zip the file and attach it to a post in this thread?

It´s the famous "The Great War 1914-1918" Scenario (by Piero) downloaded from rugged defense.

I´am using v3.1.0.9.

I think my partner is using the same version but i asked him and atm i´am awaiting his answer.

Here you can see a shot from the westfront, ok it´s not my whole army which is "freezed" but large parts of it, it´s the same at the Serbian border. You can see the french units with 99 attack, 99 defense, and a lot of my untis have defense values raised above 80.

Maybe it´s is not a tecnical problem but as you can see supply lines are established and there were no counter attacks of the french army in the previous turn.

You should NOT be using any scenario that has been downloaded from any site, until after it has been confirmed that it has been converted to TOAW III. There is a copy of this scenario that shipped with TOAW III, and you should have used that version instead. It is probably an event error due to running an unconverted scenario.

Doesn’t sound like a conversion problem. At least not any conversion problem that has ever been described before on this forum. Probably has more to do with those “square” unit icons!

Also, what’s this business about “confirmed” conversion of scenarios into the TOAW III format? Are you implying that there is some official clearing house that confirms scenarios are properly converted to the TOAW III format? Wonder how many people have converted scenarios that they should NOT be using!! Everyone please, purge your hard drive of all unconfirmed scenarios and only use those that shipped with TOAW III.

This sounds strange. How could the scenario possibly be played, and therefore the error discovered, if it had not first been converted to TOAW III?

Piero's 1914-1918 comes with TOAWIII, why didn't you use that version?

Maybe you missed the couple dozen posts over the last year, both here, at Gamesquad, and TDG, that mentions the Event 500 to Event 1000 conversion that needs to be done? This occurs when you load a scenario that was created on earlier versions of TOAW into the editor and save it. Otherwise all events which reference that special event will be screwed up.

Nice drama queen act there...

No, there isn't an "official clearing house" other than the work that went (and still goes) into testing the scenarios prior to inclusion with TOAW III and its subsequent patches. Anything else out there "in the wild" could have been created under just about any version of TOAW, including TOAW I. As above, if the scenario hasn't been confirmed to have been run through a load/save cycle in the TOAW III editor, then you're playing with fire, risking death, and possibly upsetting the cosmic balance. How's that for drama?

TOAW III will load scenarios created with earlier versions. In fact, it needs to be able to, in order to perform the conversion. However, it might be a good idea to set a flag on TOAW III scenarios so that they will be the only ones that can load in the regular (non-editor) portion of the program. However, that would probably require that we go back through all those scenarios again, and perform a re-conversion to ensure that the officially approved scenarios have been properly updated...
