In the game I'm currently playing as the Germans, I have cut off a couple of hexes containing French units. They should all be unsupplied since there is no French city for them to trace supply to. Yet, for turn after turn, these French units cut off behind enemy lines keep moving and one even entered a German controlled empty hex. (I assume there was a French HQ there to activate them.) When I eventually got them surrounded again and attacked them with German units (wasting a HQ activation), they still had a readiness of 9. Shouldn't these units eventually die from lack of supply?

I can't find anything in the manual that actually describes how supply works, how it is traced, and what the various supply sources are (other than friendly ports). Can we get further clarification on this?

Was there a French city in one of those cut off hexes?

Its hard for me to say exactly what's going on from here but if you want to send me a saved game I can check it and give you a better answer as to where they're getting supply from.

No, there were no French cities to draw supply from. In fact, one of the French stacks moved all the way to 15,12, the hex northeast of Luxembourg.

Hi sjames,

Did they have access to a coast?

I isolated some Russian Corps NE of Koenigsberg one game. My opponent controlled the Baltic. He reported (after we finished) he was able to assign his TR's to the sea supply role and raise the supply level in the coastal hexes, to keep his corps from surrendering.

He was also able to pick these corps up and transfer them to Riga in a later turn, after he reassigned his TR's to the amphibious role. Apparently you do not have to be in a port to embark.

They are nowhere near the coast. Here's a screen grab. Notice how the French stack was moving through German controlled hexes and converting them to French. The stack, if attacked, shows a readiness of 9, but it has been behind the lines for months!

One more grab. Due to Fog of War, you can't see the French stack, but it managed to move all the way to Austria!

Wow!

I'm surprised they just didn't go take one of your cities

Hopefully Frank can pin this one down and fix easily!
