After a heroic stand our garrison at Vigan is wiped out! It bought us valuable time and now
the Allied forces have to continue with their assaults on Lingayen - Clark and Manila. Most Allied ac
will be tied up for this purpose, allowing us to rebuild before the final battle. This is crucial as I really
need some time to get our Reppus into action in numbers.

Got some 50 Reppus in India - this is a nice place to rest and re-equip air units. If Andy invades, we'll spank him -
if not we'll simply use the air units as a reserve pool.

Several LCU are marching from Burma into India. The plan is to have at least 200 AP in all ports with 9 forts. This
should give us time to bring in reinforcements and strike back.

Andy's landing at San Marcelino was done squarely to immobilize our troops in Lingayen.
A few thousand troops on each side is enough to prevent 50 thousand from moving. So we have to fight were we
stand!

Others can also play dirty, so let's see what nasty plans we can hatch out
While Von Manstein San is busy over the maps the Air Force will attempt a cunning move:

Operation Haggis

I have gathered 600 ac in Manila and will attempt to destroy a few enemy capital ships at Vigan and force him
to committ more air units to defense instead of offense.

All our air units are 'expendable' and we need a little luck to pull this one of as forecast for tomorrow is t-storms.
2 sweeps from Manila and Batan Island will hit Vigan with some 120 fighters and weaken their ability to stop our bombers.
I have added a few Reppus to give the sweeps a little substance.

Some 150 bombers escorted by 120 fighters will then be made available for a max range 3 naval strike against Vigan.
Our intel reports carriers and battleships there with a modest CAP made up of ca 60-70 fighters.

I estimate ca 25% chance of success - and even then losses will be heavy.
We have to continue to attrit enemy naval units and force the enemy into a more defensive stance.
Again, as old Winston so wisely stated;

One ought never to turn one's back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half.

I'm feeling lucky today, so let's kick some a$$

How are you preparing for the Russian invasion??

You've got less than 60 days to get ready, eh? I think the Russian units start converting in June or is it "after" June, I forget. But unless you've renegotiated the "non-aggresion" treaty you'll have some major trouble to deal with up in your rear area!!

In 2-3 days I'm receiving the last LCU reinforcements of the war!
Quite substantial, and most of them are attached to the Kwantung Area Army.
Unfortunately the bulk arrives in the Home Islands and can therefore not be moved to Kwantung...

I've been busy creating a defensive line based on terrain and tactical positions.
For more than 2 years LCU's have been preparing non base fortifications; of course I wish I had more
units. Must admit I'm uncertain about the Red Army's potential.

Since it's not possible to form a cohesive line, I'll try another approach and hopefully put a few
sizeable spanners in Andy's works

If things work out according to plan you will hear him curse all the way to India in a couple of months

Paratroops from 1st, 2nd Para Regiments as well as the 1st Yokusuka SNLF dropped into the mountains
east of Lingayen. The enemy was weak here, defending with a partial Bde and a Defenseive Battalion.

Our troops have cut the supply lines to the Allied Army marching into Clark Field, forcing Andy to deploy
troops and bombers to clear out our _stubborn_ troopers

Imperial paratroopers!!

Excellent, PzB! Keep up the good work!

How is the Reppu performing against Hellcats and Corsairs? Is it meeting your expectations?

PzB,

Great news from all fronts ! Keep up the good work, you will turn the tide and win the war !!! I guess Andy is used by now to be able to sail wherever he wants without any risk whatsoever - and this is the first sign that this will change now. This is only a first appetizer... Soon the skies will be yours again...

Ok, propaganda mode off - still, great play...

Banzai! Banzai! Banzai! Godspeed for Imperial Japanese Navy. Godspeed to the brave eagles of the Empire. May the enemy invasion be laid down below the sea waves.

How is production of Your ships going? You've said that You've lost some carriers. Have You already lost all the Amagi class (Amagi, Aso, Ikoma, Katsuragi, Kasagi, Unryu)? Plus please, give us strategic map of Japan's conquests of Pacific.

Chez, the Reppus is very much on par with the Hellcat! It wins battles over its own turf but suffers against
superior enemy numbers supported by radar advantage. So it's not a wunder weapon, have to use it wisely! It's a great
escort fighter and allows our bombers to strike their targets more often than before. Trying to imagine what the Shinden will do Soon we will re-capture the skies Hartwig!!!

Tootenhamon, in 2-3 days we receive our last 2 destroyers. After that we only got a dozen radar equipped HA class subs left on the slips together with aux units like MSW and PCs. Yep, Castor is right. Only the Taiho is left of the KB! Will get you a map later on. No clear lines as enemy incursions have created islands of enemy territory within the Empire.

Some 22 enemy night fighter Hellcats were OPs losses today. Probably as the CVL Monterey suffered heavy damage.
With the last developments I now look favorably on the future.

One question; Should I invade and occupy Okha in northern Sakhalin? If I do so I must tie up another 6-700 AP to protect
it from US counter invasions. There's an enemy fleet in the Aleutians and I'm suspecting Andy is watching my moves carefully.
Not sure I really need the oil that Okha can provide us with, but if we look at it from a strategic perspective, an invasion would be a must if we didn't know the war would end in 3/46.

Nice sig Pauk-San! Are you coming to the Emperors celebrations of the latest victories on and beyond the front
tomorrow night? Sake, Sushi and Geisha's all around

Para drop over Luzon!

Andy wasn't too pleased about the para drop - but I did not prevent any troop movements.
It's just a temporary diversion of enemy ac that can win us some time.

Excpeting reinforcements tomorrow!
Andy is boasting about Red Army strength, so we'll be needing them...but he have to look far for air support <G>

Too bad we can't move Kwantung units from Home Islands to Kwantung. This is not good!

1 Question. Why do You keep producing J2Ms when Shindens are in production? And why not to boost yourself some more and switch Zero production to Reppus? Btw., it's going to be realy scarry for the enemy to see Shindens making Kamikaze strike against his carriers. Too bad that game doesn't include some odd planes Japan would have tested in late 1945 and 1946. There are dosens of those. The J8M, Nakajima Kikka- Japans Me 262, R2Y Keiun, Ki-201 and so on... Japan's invention is realy limited in this game. Bad.

Well don't mention the Bearcat actually the late Japanese player position is much better in this perspective, because he is the one to receive the ultimate plane of the game

Good job PzB, as usual. Even though I wonder if I should go one visiting your thread since you killed our beloved Richelieu

Hey just came across this
http://www.343kkt.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=978

Very nice photos from a French virtual pilot who was in Japan recently.
If you wonder what is this photo about
http://img158.imageshack.us/img158/4500/imgp6208ob7.jpg

Well that is what you can see just behind the seat (not behind the armor plate, cuz there is none) of the pilot in a Zeke...
Talk about protection

Tootenhamon, there's only some 60 Jacks in production. Was hoping they will auto upgrade to the Shinden.
If not, I will halt the factory. Don't really need to convert it, a production run of 500 Shindens pr month is more than enough to meet demands.
I'm also producing too few engines and I'd like to preserve supply levels.

All Zeke factories will also auto upgrade to the Reppu, some take the detour of converting to the A6M8 first. Got 34 of this last Zeke version in the pools now.

Have to agree with Fish, there are slot limits that made it impossible to add more air units in WitP without removing others.
The US should have the Bearcat by now - as well as other advanced designs. Non of the sides get jets, so it's fair in a way even though the Shinden gives Japan a - much needed - boost.

Sorry about that Fish, but the Richelieu defected the Axis in 43 and joined the ARCH enemy - so she had to be destroyed
Nice ship

The CVE Bougainville foundered and sunk of Luzon yesterday, another catch for you if that's a consolation.

Sneak preview from the next post: I-402 fired a full voley against the burning Sara!!

Andy has good cause to boast of Red Army strength - those Soviet Rifle Corps have about 1100 AV each, including beaucoup artillery and armor.

Looks like she wasn't the only one to defect!

Yes, we have to deal with this kind of usurpery Fish

The only way to stop the Reds is to create 3-4 major strong points and defend them. If the commies break through
they will be in Korea by winter. The hope is that we can bomb them heavily and lower their efficiency. Shindens and Reppus
is more than a match for Yaks.

Moving George and Jack fighters to different theaters were they will upgrade to Shindens when enough are available.
With their short legs I have to perform on spot upgrades instead of long range transfers.

From what I can tell, the sweep has to come from the same base if it is to precede the bombers. Otherwise, it seems to come afterwards.
