Hello, Shaun!

I know that this has already been brought up and/or addressed, so I'm not pretending this is the first time ever.

I'm going to fully upgrade the Puresim version I have on my work PC, and since you had said that the base requirement of v1.63 was a FULL install, I figured that by uninstalling the Puresim I have right now (v1.60), I would remove the extra entries in the registry and effectively "start over" with v1.63 before updating to the v1.66b patch.

Anyway... no such luck. I uninstalled the first Puresim entry and it worked fine. However, as you can see below, the others still appear in my registry:

What's interesting is how when I try to delete any of the other entries, I receive a pop-up error stating: "Invalid uninstall control file: D:\data\Active\PSB07\Uninstall\uninstall.xml"

The directory it's pointing to is where I had originally installed Puresim. Do you have any ideas, other than purchasing a registry-cleaning program, how I can remove these install clones?

This is not an unusual occurrence. I have seen the same thing in various upgrades of Steel Panthers:World At War. It creates what I call "phantom" registry entries.

I learned to ignore these long ago.

You could try this free registry cleaner, its easy to use. Once you run it, it lists the errors. "You" choose which ones to clean out, plus it makes a backup of your registry before it deletes anything. Only annoying thing, kind of like Winzip, it asks you to register it, then donate or buy. Just select Continue or whatever, then cleanup your registry. I use one, and I'm no PC expert, and my system still runs, lol

Thanks eddie, but it didn't clear the Pure Sim entries out on mine.  Like KG Erwin, I'll just ignore it/them.

You can try this Microsoft utility. The issue isn't with the registry itself it is in the install history table. I have looked all over the registry and ther eis only a single instance of PS there. So I think that this utility referenced in the Microsoft KB article will take care of the clean up. However, I would also add this is more of an annoyance than any kind of issue - no danger to your system from this.

Thanks, guys. I d/l this utility, and I can testify to its usefulness. Now, I have just one listing for PureSim and SPWaW in the Add/Remove Programs list.

Hey guys,

You can download my program, CleanCache 3.5, from Major Geeks. I don't have my site anymore but they still host the program:

http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4122.html

It will handle deleting the add/remove entires and much more.

Wow.

This program was amazingly simple, quick and efficient. Not only did I remove the "ghost" installs of Puresim but I also was able to remove some other junk that was floating there.
