Hey there!

I stumbled into something quite strange the other day: I was playing as CSA, with most of the advanced rules on (if I remember correctly it was the unbalanced scenario and I think sergant difficulty setting). Anyway I wasn't too bad, won all of the big battles even with numbers against me in a few cases (just "lost" those few where I decided to withdraw with just one brig. against a union division). Kansas decided nevertheless to join the Yankees but soon I got it back, although some of the cities were hard fought for. The Yankees even tried to invade the CS by sea, but I pushed them back into the ocean until they gave up. In the end I had 3 big Armies that smashed all opposition, I pushed north with two of them, while the ANV sat in Virginia to keep the dwindling union forces north of the Potomac. After I crushed all forces in the West I took every damn province, slowly moving east. Finally the only thing that was left of the Union were two provinces, including Washington. The funny thing is just then the European Powers joined my cause and entered the war (typical, when everything is already over they take sides). There were even a few sea battles, but as I had a Brithis and French fleet to help out my boys I kicked Yankee seedogs butts too. I then made my last move - taking the final two Union provinces... (the map looked quite nice - all blue vanished, CSA territory up and including Canada)

...and what happened? The game crashed. I just wonder why the Union didn't give up sooner, why they didn't try to make peace with the CS after they had no chance to get anywhere.

Has anyone of you had any similar experience? Or did I trick the system somehow without knowing.

You should keep your saved games, I'm guessing Eric will ask to see them.
