Status: offline 		I got a campaign going as the Allies. My opponent and I have traded off BBs ( 7 or 8 each) and DDs (30-40 each) but I have sunk a lot more CAs and CLs. I am just about ready to begin my counter offensive.

Most of the real fighting has taken place around Lunga (go figure) and Tulagi. He moved to rush Lunga and Tulagi early in the game and we fought some trememdous battles of attrition around there. Japan ended up with a strong garrison on Tulagi but I held Lunga. We fought some serious battles as he tried to reinforce and resupply but in the end, my airpower on Lunga was the deciding factor and he has all but abandoned his garrison and they have gotten no supply for months.

My submarines have been very effective, wounding many surface ships and sinking a few. They have also sunk about 40-60 merchants. Surprisingly his subs have not done much.

All in all a great game with a tough opponent.

Not much going on here on this board. Somebody tell me a sea story.

You've inspired me to register and make my first post....

Am playing against the AI 1926 scenario, really enjoy the game, the tension as the TFs slug out is keen.

Not to mention the drama of when a sub picks off one of my badly damaged BBs or BCs as they limp back to port.


I agree, its a shame

For those of you who have not tried it via email. I played one of the short scenarios first off and it was a lot of fun. Kind of compacts the action and provides plenty of fireworks.

Status: offline 		Actually, I'm still around too :) Real life got in the way the last few months, but I'm still on forums, even attempted a campaign against AI (does American AI ever move its fleet out of San Diego in Grand Campaign???)... :)

Status: offline 		I have just started playing WPO, although I purchased it long ago. I have some experience with WITP, this should get me started relatively quickly. But I have yet to get used to the very different style of play. But after some warm-up I might be ready for PBEM!

Status: offline 		Wolfie and I have a PBEM going. I am really enjoying it, but Rick's workload means we have a slow turn round. I am half tempted to try to get another going, but am likely to have a fourth WitP PBEM on the go soon (a second Iron Storm - am I mad?) so perhaps it would be a bad idea. I really like it though. I have the wonderful ship sides Fremen did. I just wish he had the time to give them all the treatment because there were a lot of interesting ships around then. If I win the lottery at some point I'll commission him for the job and make them available to all the fans of this neglected gem of a game.

Status: offline 		I'm currently playing 2 pbem games with several friends, we really enjoy the game, in fact the three of us like it better then witp. Probably due to the fog of war and the surface actions. Without planes like in witp, a lot more things can be done and tried, and one can be sneaky and hit you from behind if your not watching hahaha.

Are there any mods for this game and if so, where could I find a list of them.... great game, Shame more people havn't tried it. It could use another patch for some bugs, but all in all a fun game especially against a human opponent......

I did play the Jutland scenario as PBEM some time ago, which was fun.

Then we started the early campaign game (in the PBEM setup version), which turns out to be not really my thing... Took Manila, Hongkong, Northern Borneo and did the jump to Singapore - bypassing the big guns by taking the two bases north of it (Mersing and Johore Batu ?). Not only Aliied subs were very successful in that area, but also his airforce started to be very effective. I lost large amounts of ships, including some of the few modern BB Japan has because of air to surface and submarine activity. Right now, I have a large stack of units which is basically trapped at Singers - I will not be able to get them out, as AAA on ships and ASW are virtually non-existing.

But my failures (and mistakes) are not really my issue. That campaign is S L O W; not too much happening. Which is a problem for me; micromanaging on a large map without much going on is not my thing... What seems to be left for me to do is sit back and wait for the allies...

As I said, Jutland was fun and I like the game - but overall, I like WitP better.

Status: offline 		I stopped playing after a few months of getting the game because it too forever for the AI to make its moves. I only play versus the AI so it was very slow for me. I wish it was faster paced because I really like the game.

Status: offline 		I am working a scenario against the AI.  I've lost Wake and Mindanao, but retained Midway and Guam.  The Japanese landed on Luzon but went to ground. 

I cauget three convoys arriving at Midway with most of my battleline and think I put the hurt on the Japanese.  I managed to sink about 80 APs and AKs, so I am wondering if he has much left.  He is making no agressive moves, and I am six months into the scenario.
