Currently a strong Aliied player can almost crush all German hopes in 1940. I have been thinking about how to fix this without making France a walk-over and would like to suggest the following:

1. Up the value of the Maginot line defences
2. Drop the value all French INF and GAR by 1
3. Still have to drop GB CV's AtoA by at least one and drop their range down to 2

Should make for a more realistic France?

Not sure if it will work as still not playing the game until the game destroying oil bug is fixed.

Prevent France and the UK simply shipping all their garrisons to Frence from the Med, etc, to form a 2nd line to stop recoils - a house rule.

Problem is you could argue that the historical France was not the most realistic France!

If you re-fought the summer 40 campaign lots of times the historical quick defeat IMO will not occur all that often with a drawn out campaign the most likely outcome. The german might still win but it might take until the autumn.

The French army was almost completely mobilised in September 1939 (a lot is missing in the game deployment) but did nothing significant because of a lack of will. As you can't build intent into a game I would leave it as it is.

Rather than moving garrisons house rules etc IMO it would be better to have some decent political consequences rules, e.g. remove garrison from north africa will lead to algeria becoming axis on fall of france etc etc.

Well those are all things that are not in the game - so you can either do nothing.....or do whatever yuo can within the game as it exists at the moment.

remember how this is supposed to be a "fun game" - super-sized PG?  So all that booring tedious political stuff has been left out........well this is some of the consequence - the game is unable to replicate WW2 as it happened.

There are mechanisms arounfd that would adequately cover the points you describe - variable entry for neutrals is already going into the next patch.  Something like GoA's "HQ/Activation points" would cover French and English lethargy at hte start of eth war - in GOA you have to buy very expensive points to let you launch an offensive, and even when yuo do buy them they take months to become available.  If something like that was used and the Wallies started with no such points then they could ahve as strong an army as you like but be unable to attack Germany due to lack of resources.

but that's a mechanism entirely foreign to this game & I don't see it ever beign adopted.
