This is a great way of building maps for areas of Russia, where WWII maps are rare, the elevations, waterways, rail lines (for the most part) and forest will be the same as it was in the 40's. Chances are the roads existed but were dirt instead of paved. The built up areas are a trick, current population of the town I am working on is 40,000, its 80Km from Moscow with a major rail, water and road connection - so I will surmise that it has had good growth over the past 65 years and will reduce it to about 1/2 of what Google Earth shows me. If there is a more scientific method - please let me know. On the other hand, is anyone has a map built for the areas of Kashira, Tula, Plava, Mordves, Venev or Novomoskovost and are willing to share them, it would save a bit of time. Bart
