You can carry a tank on an air transport.

I believe you can airlift non-heavy equiplment, i.e. support, infantry, mortars. I have never seen a plane carry a tank or engineering equipment.

If you transport part of a tank unit somewhere, i e the "soft" bits, even on a sub, (and lose the rest) the personnel will take up replacements including the heavy equipment - eg airlifting a fragment of a tank battalion out of the Philippines and losing the rest has this effect.  A variation on the submarine escape model.

Yes - at least you could... (ask Nik about this)... i don't think they've fixed this yet.

EDIT - haven't seen any buzzdozers transported by air, though.

They had this on the patch list to be fixed this time around, but i am not sure of what is going to happen with it....

Nik is fond of mentioning that he has been able to airlift an entire ARMORED division... yet, you can't airdrop some guns of the airborne regiments...

Yes, I learned that the hard way when my 2nd USMC para Rgt air dropped onto Thursday Is. My guys learned that not only was intel wrong and their were enemy troops at the base, but there guns didn't drop with them.

Imagine several companies of troops starring up into the sky waiting....and waiting....

I'm playing CHS 158c (Nik Mod) and after changing command of a Armored Rgt in Manila, I was unable to get any of it to load on subs for transport. Not even the support units.

I know that Engineer Vehicles will "not" transport by air.

You would think they could at least weld the tanks on the subs and use the guns in defense.
Two or three per sub would be nice.

No, its something that was done IRL in PNG as it was the only sensible means of transport (other than sea transport around the coast.)

If Professor Jones can hang onto a sub that's crossing the Med, then surely we can strap a tank onto the sub's deck?
