Status: offline 		When I joined this forum on 2004 I was already contributing in another game forum: the half-arsed and infamous game Pax Romana. For some reason I thought I should be using a "Roman" nick there. So when I joined here I just used that same nick. Anyway "Tullius Detritus" is a [very negative] Roman personage in one of Astérix's stories: La Zizanie ["Asterix And the Roman Agent" in English, I think].

I spent 10 years in the USN, and all 3 of my deployments were onboard good old CV-66.  I'm actually in the picture on my avatar, somewhere in the crowd on the bow as we transited the Suez Canal.

A lady broke another guy's heart. So what did he do? He started to send e-mails to his [male] friends using her ex's addy... Needless to say he was saying nasty, horny & porn things. All the guys thought the ex was some sort of er... nympho, cat on heat, and of course they started to harass her => "hey, no problem, we may do a lot of nasty things, thanks!". The lady investigated, she sued her ex and the "poor" guy was fined. Real story. Ah, love...

Status: offline 		1275psi - is of course the pressure of the Foster wheeler boilers I used to steam in the RAN, on the DDGs Perth, Hobart and Brisbane.
One boiler in particular (1A) on the Perth was a bitch -she taught me patience, and persistance, and that swearing doesnt help - things very useful for WITP.

2A just decided to blow up

Still nothing like the power of opening the throttles when you have 4 on line.
And 1275 psi is easy to remember!

I notice that some of you have explained your avatars. Great idea! Tell us more! For you Non- former USN types , mine is (tying with my log-in name) my Navy rating badge (or at least the part that tells my rate). How about the rest of you?

Status: offline 		I have a bit of a story behind my name. I joined the Navy in 1973. I was 17 years old and looked about 15. By the time I finished Boot Camp, AWA School and Flight Training I was 18. I made it to my squadron (VP-56) two weeks before we deployed to Sicily. During the deployment we made a mini-det to Suda Bay Crete. We managed to get one day of RR in the town and my crew decided it was time to properly welcome me and one other new guy to Crew 6.  They did this by buying two bottles of wine everywhere we went, one for the crew and one for the two of us. Well after a few hours my ordnance man, a man who I came to have great respect for, decided it was time to get me a hooker. He pulled me out of my chair and said “let’s go find you a hooker.” Well, I had never seen a hooker or even thought about them so I started to ask him a lot of questions. How can you tell a girl is a hooker? What do you say to one? How much do they cost? And on and on. After a while, he stopped and looked at me with a shocked look and said “You really don’t know do you? I mean you really don’t know?” I replied that no I really didn’t. That is when he said “****, you’re just a Kid! You’re nothing but a GD Kid!” That was it, the nickname stuck. They made me put it on my Crew hat and my name tag. For seven years people only knew me as Kid. Heck, some of the new guys even believed it was my real name. There are still some people out there who call me Kid when we get together. As for what happened that day…well that’s a whole different story.

My opponent was beating me up something horribly and he said something like "You're toast...in fact you're worst then toast....you're charbroiled". Started using it as a log in, because I was pretty sure it wouldn't be used. I'm sure my avatar is recongnizable to most on this forum. It is a unit I served with that I have a lot of respect for and a lot of memories (good and bad) about.

Status: offline 		Mine is an old D&D charecter Skyros the Blue. He was an MU with very average stats that always managed to survive adventure after adventure. Once killed a dragon using Burning Hands, rolled a 1 on a d4 and inflicted the last point of damage. Of course the rest of the party was decimated at this time. I believe I used it on the old GENIE network and when I started here it made sense to port it over. Spent Less then six months in the USN at NAPS in Newport in 1978, about as close as I got to putiing in my time.

Tuscaloosa,AP - A seven-year old boy was at the center of a Tuscaloosa County courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulation requiring that family unity be maintained to the highest degree possible.

The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried and said that they also beat him. After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him.

After two recesses to check legal references and confer with the child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the Auburn Tigers, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.

Sad, but true!

She came in the room once and found me, i think she expected to find hardcore porn on the screen the way i tried to cover it up - and then i think thats what she actually would have preferred, since then she has always told me i married her under false pretenses and calls me an undercovergeek

Well, shortly after my oldest was born, I was the one who would get to my daughter first if she woke up during the night (ok, who's kidding here, not "if", "when")

I came across this comic strip called Baby Blues.

One of the strips was about the father getting the baby at night when it cried. The first 2 darkened panels said, "A rustle of covers in the night... A cry for help goes out... It's a bird, it's a plane..." The last panel is the father standing at the door flicking the light on, all scruffy, bleary-eyed, holding a baby bottle next to the crib, and the caption,

"It's DADMAN"

That was me. It stuck.

And, my avatar is a tribute to my dad who made M/sgt on Red Beach, Lunga Point in Aug 42 and retired at the same rank 30 years later. I, on the other hand, was a lousy spec/5 in the Army of he United States. After all, I figured that when I got drafted I had already been in the Marine Corps for 18 years.

Status: offline 		Mine comes from Das Boot. In the computer game Aces of the deep you had the option of having the crew talk in german. They always called the skipper "Herr kaleun" that I learned means Capt Leutenant. So there.

It became a running joke between me and some friends... and I've used it ever since. 13 was always my jersey number in lacrosse and football.

OUCH! There is too much truth in that this season, but at least we don't play Darth Visor this year.
