Ok, so now that I've figured out that the PDS isn't too complicated, now I am curious if anyone has been able to create any plays to run successfully between the tackles? All my dive/plunge/off tackle plays between the tackles end up going for 0 or 1 yards every time. It seems like the defensive linemen blast the o-linemen out of the way every time only on these plays. On sweeps and pitches to the outside the o-linemen crush the defense.

so what are your secrets for running the ball between the tackles?

I see good runs inside the tackles if the defense is in zone coverage, but if the LB have read or man coverage on the RB it is hard to get yards inside.  I give the OT and the C, block out logic.  Block out doesnt work all that well for the OG, if they are facing an odd man line they dont go directly to the LB, but first will make a move like they are going to block the DL on the OT.  To get around this I give the OG lead block logic, and give them a point to move to about 3-4 yards straight ahead, at that point I give them block nearest logic.  THis way if there is a DL on them they will block him as they lead to the next point, if there is no DL on them they will move upfield and then block the nearst man, which will probably be the LB.

Need to do some more work on these though.  Im finding that if the DL slants the the OL dont pick them up very good.

Running between the tackles has more to do with your offensive linemen and blocking scheme than it does the running back (true in real life, true in any football game. Just follow the logic of trying to ensure you have 1 more blocker in the area you wish to run than they have defenders. It also tends to be a bit easier to build off tackle runs to the strong side, because the tight end can fire out and take on the strongside linebacker right off the snap.

Another key to running plays is ensuring your back is running in the same lanes as your blockers.  If both are in the same area, your back will accelerate slower and hit the hole slower.
Some means of handling slanting DL is to move to point OG into the LB holes and then using block out commands, while you give your tackle a pass block command.  This allows, DL to get up field and blocked by your tackle while the line has more holes.
