Hi to all,

I'm close to reciving a new fighter bomber - Randy. If i'm not mistaken, i can equip a lot ac groups with this figher bomber (downgrade IJA bombers to Lily and upgrade them to Randy) with PDU option. If i'm completely wrong about that, than we have not problem here at all

Now that seems gamey to me and i'm wondering how many groups i should upgrade? Should i stick with historical number (and how many Ki 102 air groups are available in stock) - that seems fair to me - or do you propose something else?

You have PDUs on, and you are suddenly worried about what is gamey?

Nice plane indeed, but unfortunately it can't hold itself against the modern allied fighters. In the end you'll be using it as a rear area defense against unescorted LBA or as a bomber.

My opinion is that it's not gamey unless you do not upgrade the Randy -> Dinah KAI -> Frank

I have no opinion on the matter. That does not, however, prevent me from offering humor instead.

All Lily groups upgrade to it without PDU, so count all the Lily groups in the scenario 15 and you have your number.

I wouldn't have a problem with it. With my opponents with PDUs, you get whatever path is presented.

FWIW, the US moved quite a few USMC dive-bomber pilots into fighters, both the F4F and F4U. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the same sort of thing happened for Japan as the war pushed into 1944, and they needed more fighters.

As long as you keep bomber sentais armed with bombers or 2E fighter bombers, I see no problem with it. What type it will be is up to commanders decision. I have planned to have Light sentais armed with Ki-102 and Heavy sentais with Ki-67. But I have already changed my mind. Ki-102 is not such a war wining plane.. And I doubt I will be in position (or willing) when the time comes to build so many "expensive" 2E planes which performance and usefulness is doubtfull..
I play both sides and from the allied point of view I can say, that if any japanese player want to "upgrade" whole army bomber air force to Ki-102, he is mostly welcome. There is about 2500-3000 slots in army bomber sentais? Means 5000-6000 engines invested just to build enough planes to fill them all (not mentioned HI for airframes).. And allied fighters will shoot them down in droves so another thousands will be needed as replacement.. Soon P-51 will enter the war so there won´t be much unescorted 4E strikes.. Can anyone afford such a huge investment to this plane? Maybe yes. But why to do it?
"Upgrading" all army bomber to Ki-102 is not gamey to me, but contraproductive. Benefits do not exceed the costs. Upgrade only about 30%. Another 30% will on ASW (there you can use old planes like Ki-21/49/48 which are already in the pool) and 40% armed with Ki-67 (IIRC they can carry torpedo) seems as a good mix for me. And you will save yourself the discussion about gameyness..

I really don't understand, if they don't have a house rule regarding allied 2Es coverting to 4Es and then those 4Es into B29, why should Ki-102 be even discussed in any other matter aside from the usefullness of converting bomber sentais to a figher-bomber in question. I mean, really...

I play with PDU on and see no problem with anything very much the allies have the advantage of hindsight and that is the number one issue .

Now .... I have just been sailing in Croatia Mid Sept - sailed out of Split ( a place near split ) 51 footer with english Skipper - loved it but the water was real cold for Snorkling . I love the food esp the Peka Octopuss!!!!!!!! Nice attractive and un developed coastline though a lot of Italians have bought the best houses and they are empty most of the time .
Good wine as well but pretty expensive in the restaurant about £20-30 Per bottle but most bottles were one litre ( nice ) . The house wine from the barrel was £8 litre but some of it was not so good . Beer was good and cheap for us in the UK 50% Less

Saw Tito s Headquarters

I find it amazing people in Croatia so far from the Pacific are intertested in such things as WITP ?

well, at least they (the Croations) have a coast... We Austrians live in the mountains with the biggest "ships" cruising on the Danube being some 6 meters long... And we´re still interested in a war that was fought in the biggest lake on earth...

I am Pauks opponent in this game and I dont care so why should anyone else ?

p.s. we do have a HR preventing wholesale transfer of 2E to 4E I have nearly 60% of all US bomber Sqns in 2E at present despite having the ability to upgrade a lot more to 4E (pretty much the entire USAAF could be in 4E by now if I wanted to)
