Looking at these solo leagues maybe thats were the CFC should have started at.First year solo second year with owners.
I am part of the unstable group of leagues that seem not to be able to launch.A general question to those out there with leagues.HOW ARE THEY GOING AND what advice do you give to ones running online leagues

What I advise to do for a new league in Maximum Football is to set up a league with primarily human ownership but some computer team ownership to round out the league size you want.  For example, if you have an eight team league, you can have human ownership choose locations and names, and fill in others with computer teams.  That way, you know what kind of job it will be to maintain the league.

Starting small is a good idea.  Some league owners want 20 or 30 team leagues right away, and that is a lot of work to maintain and it doesn't give human owners as much of a chance to win the big game as a smaller league with less CPU owned teams.

It may be a good idea to have a draft league to start out and then add playbooks an other detailed items in the second or third season.  If you can draft live, that is fun.  If not, then have each team submit a team profile.  They are text files, so they should be easy for every team owner to do.

The drawback of having a league start as a single player league and move to a human owned league is the inability of league owners to choose cities and team names and do the initial draft.

Marauders is spot on here. In this case anyway, smaller is better...at first. I dont think there are enough interested Max owners to support very many leagues at the moment, especially large ones. Even in the FootballPro glory days, there was a fair amount of turnover. There were the hardcores, who loved it and usually joined a number of leagues, and then there were the attention deficit guys, who joined and disappeared.

The Max community is growing, so hopefully we will see more owners and more leagues.

Well I would like to see the CFC go.The 2007 CFL players are being done now by the VCFL.So looking at doing a CFL 2007 season or some come of inter-league play with the VCFL or merger depending on the interest level thats out there.
What do you guys think would work best.
CFL Teams CFL rosters.
Fantasy teams CFLers
CFL Teams with a draft.
CFL players American Rules
Hybrid Rules

Is there any interest in joining the CFC.
Teams committed so far
Toronto Argo`s
Calgary Stampeders

I was wondering what's been going on with the CFC lately, especially now that I've got the game myself. So there're just two of us committed so far, eh? My preference would be for either CFL teams and CFL players or CFL teams and a draft.

Well as seen above in the VCFL posting the CFC has been absorbed by the VCFL.Looking forward to the upcoming season. Not ruling out a CFC in some form in the future but at this stage looking to absorb as much as I can from the VCFL to make my future league that much better.

Well thanks for the big build up Brodie
here's hoping I can live upto it

Before we run away with the idea, It would be nice to see what interest there is, if any.

Were looking at an eight team league, Canadian Rules.................with a twist
anyone intersted ???????????????

So Far

1. Montreal Beavers - Brodie
2. Yellowknife SaberCats - Mykal
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.

A Basic outline of the league can be found HERE
one or two rule changes are still under debate but the basics are there.

My personal opinion, due to what I've seen in the past

Folk tend to be NFL or CFL based
those that are interested in the NFL tend not to have much interest in the CFL
and those intersted in the CFL tend to have little time for NFL

of course there are always the odd exceptions to that but not often (I'm actually one who has interst in both)

So how I see it is: with a blend of rules as the CFC has at the moment
you might think that you could attract followers of either brand
but there is also the chance you put off everyone because they want either NFL or CFL.

I have to admit 4 down Canadian football didnt seem right to me at first either
but then I'll give most things a shot and see what happens.

Hope that addresses your question.............at least a little

thanks for the responce.RCSL for awhile did both .They had a 6 team American rules division and 4 team Canadian division they played a 8 game season using the CIS schedule for Quebec and Atlantic. The interdivisional games were played under home team rules. The championship was a two game total points thing 1 game under each divisions rules. Not shure how they did it not sure why they stopped.

Then theres the update issue,
everyone always wants to wait for the next update before playing

On this I agree with the VCFL policy
you can get caught up in waiting for updates and the situation never changes
the new update comes out, then people are waiting for the next one.............and it goes on and on for ever.

You have to just get on with what you have and try have some fun with it.

I have to agree with the VCFL on that we have been on a wait and see since 2003.The CFC had 8 owners at one point then i postponed to the next update. Then merged ith the VCFL them seceded from the VCFL.The only playing that got done by our owners was in the VCFL and PIFL.The PIFL is gone and Ido`t even see the CFC owners that were in the PIFL on the forum any more. They moved on to something else.
Ths looked ike the perfect time to start up again.Well as perfect as your going to get.
Theres limits on this game jst remember everyone is playing with those same limits and have fun.

I'm going to have to decline the invitation to run your league Brodie,
Not that I'm totally against running the league for you
But with a total lack of interest in the league, I cant justify spending any time on it.

You need to have at least half the teams human controlled or its pointless
If it generates any interest in the future, then feel free to drop me a line again.
