I've just read the review and want to buy the game! It's next on my list after AT.

So, where do I get hold of the demo he mentions in the review? I can't find it on the Matrix or Slytherine websites.

Cheers,
Jim

This review sums up my impressions much better than I could ever phrase it. This game has huge potential IMHO, and I hope that Matrix, Slitherine, and Firepower Entertainment give us more, more, more...

What he meant in the review must have been an old pre-release demo we sent out to press ppl and publishers. There is no public demo planned.

Johan, I do not want to re-start old discussions. But would not a demo help getting the CEAW virus spread much faster? Note how Bill was having fun once he started playing...think about it.

There are no demo plans for the short to mid term, but we may change our minds later on!

Thanks for the answer about the demo. I thought it was unusual for Matrix to release one. Still, I'm going to buy the game anyway. Based on past experience with Matrix and Bill Trotter's review, it will be worth the money. That's good enough for me.

Regards,
Jim

Congratulations on the outstanding review guys. They don't get any bigger in the wargame arena than Mr. Trotter (I used to buy PC Gamer just to read his stuff. His review of Panzer General II is what got me into this hobby).

Well deserved.

I can see why some people think that demos of wargames are not a good thing because the complexity might put off the potential buying.  But CEAW is about as beer and pretzels as you can get.  You really have to be below level intelligence to not "get" this game.  I remember when Strategic Command first came out, I tried the demo and it was so simple and straightforward I loved it and bought it right away.

I always loved Trotters reviews I use to read them in PC Gamer in the 90's he was always honest with his reviews and I can't think of any game he reviewed and recommended and I bought that I didn't enjoy.

Bootstrapping tech improvements cost more than an armoured Corps?  Strategic bombing can win hte war in hte east for the Germans?  You can research infantry weapons??

I always thought infantry equipment should be researched. For instance Panzerfaust, MP-44 and all the other weapons that were designed and researched during the war. Hearts of Iron was always the best with research love that game even if you didn't research individual weapons researching Infantry to new models improved their weapons.
