This game reminds me of Empire and Battles of Destiny, but much more advanced and complex. I wonder if anyone else played BoD? I put in hundreds of hours with it and have played up until quite recently. The structure of AT is similar -- hard choices about production and strategy. I think I will be playing AT for a long time, just with the random maps and forces. There seems to be unlinited replay value with the game, which is a very strong selling point for me.

Congratulations to VR for a job very well done!

Empire Deluxe was one of the first wargames i ever played. It certainly did have an impact on PT and AT.

Here is my story... I discovered your wonderful little freeware game on the net only a few months ago called people's tactics. Downloaded it, played it and man was it fun! I played it nearly that whole evening! I have been a fan of empire, empire deluxe & empire 2 years and I mean YEARS ago. That was always a fun game. I was a mod/scenario creator and beta tester for shrapnel's war engine game several years ago which some of you may know about. I created two mods for that game (global war 1 & 2) which was very much similar to empire 2 but a good bit better. I was going for an empire style game when I created that mod. So no game has been released (at least not that I know of) all of these years since then which was like it except people's tactics. Anyway, upon discovery of people's tactics, I want to say it may be the first game I can say actually really does surpass the empire series. I may have been sleeping all of this time because I had no idea of advanced tactics. I don't remember seeing it on the website when I downloaded people's tactics. I may have seen it but certainly did not know what it was because if I did I would have followed its development since it started. Anyway, just seen it has been released here on matrix website. This said, I feel AT will not doubt be above and beyond those other games since I already feel PT is. I for one will certainly be buying AT since I liked PT so much It may be another 12 years before we see another game like this.

thanks for the idea of putting a link on the peoplestactics website :) should have thought of that earlier.

and i agree with you that most "4X" games tend to be space or fantasy based. i am happy to try to fill the void inbetween though.
