This game gives you allot of choices as far as how you want to conduct your battles. You have to decide how to spend your production points. Should you build more units, or research a new or improved technology.

The editor is basically a Wargame Construction Kit, allowing you to build most any type of battle you wish.

Those are just a few of the features that make this a great game. I am sure others will chime in with more.

I too have TOAW and Decisive Battles and am glad I purchased this game.

The only problem I have had so far is that I can't shut the game off.

very different than db, much more flex in what your units do, why they do it, supply etc..
not to knock db at all, this is like earlier dg. bin, on steriods.. differrent that the new Battlefront DB..

Random games.

To my mind, AT is a little gamier [yup I think I made it up] than DB and TOAW and by that I mean it has fewer historical details and has more fun things to do. I've not had AT long, but I can tell you it certainly does not play like TOAW or DB.

Come on, buy it.  You know you want to. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

I all... I am still hesitating as to if this game will bring me anything new, and thought I had to ask some questions as well. I compare this game mainly to TOAW and wonder if TA somehow solve the things I usually have issues over in that game:

1. Formations (same HQ) are held too losely together and you cant detatch / attatch subunits to different HQs
2. Combat and situational reports are very abstracted and hard to get good info from
3. Supply reports are practically non-existent (I want a spreadsheat of how everyone is doing, and that units tell me when they are running low.
4. Good Sfx and a crisp clean good looking GUI (with the ability to make own notes on the map and formations)
5. Widescreen support

Then there is some TA specific question:

At what unit scale is TA at its best? (Abstraction usually works best with higher echelon units brigades+)

Regarding the construction kit aspect of TA, how good is it? I am one of those wierd people that really if I could choose would prefer modern battles instead of WW2. How good would TA handle that, regarding new weapons systems?

Cheers!

1. HQ's give bonus to units under it if within command range. Each unit is made up of SubFormations(SF's) each SF can be moved between any givin unit. Each unit can be assigned to another HQ but will lose som readiness and experience.

2. Also abstracted but i like how they play out. But not that detailed. They where more detailed in PT i think.

3. Each unit counter have a small bar to indicate if there is any trouble also a square marker. Other then that you can check your HQ units to see how much supply was requested and how much actualy went out to sub units. Also in the statistics screen you can see the OOB and supply informations of each unit sorted by there HQ's etc.

Big fan of TOAW here.. I just being playing around with this for the last few hours after buying it tonight.

First impression are good, like the poster above states it feels a more 'gamey' but I like it. Hoping for regular updates and plenty of scenarios.. Will have a crack at my own in near future.

But fella, for £19 you can't really go wrong :) very good value..

Definitely not as "groggy" as TOAW.....but includes strategic features that TOAW could do with.......so it depends what you're after......if you're interested in a more flexible system than say CEAW or SC2 for fighting WW2 at a strat level then good....if you want a "Europe Ablaze" with added strategic finesse then hmm...probably not so good....you lose a lot on hte accuracy side of things to get that aded strategic level.
